If you know any cool counterweights I would like to see them because I am looking into freehand.

As a newbie myself in 5a I’m still constantly trying to learn new tricks and getting over the fear that the counterweight still smacks me all over the place 
. But here are some recommendations that you should definitely take a look at !!!
I think that first you should go check out the yotricks chainmail counterweight !!! This counterweight encouraged me to try 5a freely without the worry of damaging (me 
) and my yo-yos. Since it’s made out of chainmail it will collapse on impact and it won’t hurt you AT ALL trust me 
I definitely encourage you to check one out.
The Porykon V-dash counterweight is definitely a good option as well. The machined plastic gives it a solid feel in play and it has a great amount of control in the air. It’s definitely a solid counterweight and is worth taking a look.
Recently @DedHed (whose here on the forums) just made another batch of incredible looking counterweights and I gotta say that you should TOTALLY check one out !!! Definitely talk to him if your interested in picking one up !!!

For square shaped I like the Unknown Square. It has a novel design where you don’t need to remove the string from the throw to put it on.

Thank you for sharing about the chainmail counterweight. I purposely steered clear of this one because it looked like it would hurt. I didn’t realize it would collapse on impact, that is awesome! I may have to pick one up at some point.
