HAHA. That’s so malicious.
i just realized who mikenak1 is.
World champion. 4A. Yeah.
Good thing he isn’t competing.
I don’t stand a chance in 4A and I would rather judge it, so I decided to not compete and just judge the 4A Finals.
You should at least compete in 4a prelims. Jk. Do what you want.
He is already sponsored by sOMETHING and won worlds so this contest woul dbe pointless for him to enter imo
Oooohh… so now you’re saying this contest is all about the prizes?
No, Im saying that if Janos entered 1a it would be stupid because he already knows hes the best yoyoer in the world and going against people who are still on the road to the top would be dumb for someone who is as good as he.
agreed. however, there is no one who wouldn’t want to see a janos freestyle.
Ok, well if you put it that way… btw i saw your prelim again, and i think it might win.
I chuckled
thanks brotha. yours was super smooth too, same w/ your bros.
The “big league” judges have not judged yet though and no offence to Zorro, but I value their opinion highest in this contest.
Having non experienced judges destroys the integrity of the contest. Non experienced judges are not consistent and only serve to dilute the accurate judges.
We should take the two or three most experienced judges in each division and only use them. If we don’t, we are going to see a lot of wacky results.
I didn’t be the one to have to say it, so good thing you said it for me. This is what I was thinking ever since Palli joined judging and I knew other pros would. I thought it would come off as rude though lol so yeah thanks for that.
I agree. I feel like Zorro just wants more judges. We don’t want some kid who barely knows anything about yoyoing judging (based on what zorro said).
The only reason someone would sign-up for judging is that they think they know enough. If it turns out to be too hard for them, then they don’t need to be judging, they contact me, I take them off the list.
This, I hope, was not directed at me, but it was directed at my little brother, whom I protect. I do fell insulted on his behalf and I don’t feel like telling him about it.
Not only is this a chance for beginner yoyoers to start competing, it’s a chance for beginner judges, to get some practice. Think of it that way.
People aren’t always aware of their own ignorance. I might believe that I can do something just fine, when in reality I have no idea what in doing.
It wasn’t directed at your little brother and no offense was intended. It was directed at the system as a whole. I’m not calling your idea stupid or your intentions poor. However, considering that Yoyoexpert has graciously offered prize money, the best thing to do would be to give accurate contest results, so that the best player can take home the cash.
If we want to give people experience judging, we should have the most experienced judges release their scores and have the other, non experienced judges compare their scores with the official scores. I’m sure many non experienced judges would be surprised at how different their scores could be.
So what are you saying here? Should I tell everbody, “sorry, you can’t judge, you’re not good enough?” How would that make you feel?
Yes, when a non-qualified judge asks if they can judge, that’s exactly what you should tell them. Maybe “We need a minimum experience requirement” instead of “you’re not good enough” but I suppose how you phrase it is up to you. It’s nothing to be upset about, Zorro. I know you’re a young man so I don’t “blame” you for being upset–that kind of project management is a skill to develop and this is a growth opportunity, not a personal slight. Take advantage of it!
And objectively speaking, a small set of qualified judges is for the best. There’s really nothing personal here.
If you decide you’re an automobile enthusiast and offer to do mechanical work on my car because it seems interesting and you’ve shown a bit of aptitude for it, I’m going to say “no.” It won’t be anything personal, it’s just that you’re not qualified to work on my car yet.
