The YYJ NEW BREED:
Introduction:
This is a review for the YoYoJam NEW BREED. This yoyo was designed by the 1A national champion Eric Koloski. It was the first YoYoJam yoyo to feature a celcon plastic body with aluminum weight edges. This makes this yoyo very durable. My first observations of this yoyo were its HUGE gap and large size. I mean it; this thing has a giant gap! This yoyo may look heavy on a piece of paper, but when I gave it a throw, it seemed surprisingly floaty. So if you like relatively light, and big yoyos, you will probably like this very much. This is the biggest yoyo I have for 1a (in diameter); if you like small yoyos this not for you.
Specs:
Diameter: 2.2”
Width: 1.73”
Gap type: Fixed
Weight: 68g
Response: YYJ Silicone O-Ring
Bearing: Size C (regular YoYoJam speed bearing)
Shape: Wing
Good Things About This YoYo:
- VERY wide gap, thus easy to land the yoyo on the string.
- Great spin time.
- Heavy, but feels floaty when you’re using it.
- Good at grinds because of the smooth celcon texture. It’s pretty good at thumb grinds too if you take the cap(s) off.
- Very durable thanks to the celcon plastic.
- Plays very smooth.
- One of the larger sized yoyos.
- Relatively cheap. It’s a “big bang for your buck.”
Bad Things About This YoYo:
- Has the classic YoYoJam vibe, but more of a mild case of it…
- Not a good pocket yoyo.
- Heavy, but feels floaty when you’re using it (I put this fact in both because it depends on preferences).
- Not a beginner yoyo (a bind return is required to get it back to your hand).
- One of the larger sized yoyos (again, I put this in both because it depends on preferences).
- I experienced some occasional slippy binds because of the really wide gap.
- You have to keep replacing the silicone with either flowable silicone, or already made YoYoJam
silicone O-Rings.

No Caps: In this picture, I simply am showing you what this yoyo looks like with the caps off. This yoyo’s recess is not very deep.

Inside:
In this picture, I tried to show you what the inside of this yoyo looked like.
Conclusion:
Overall, this is great yoyo for string tricks. It’s very big, it sleeps long, it grinds great, has a big gap, and a roundish interior. Its weight feels great, because it is all concentrated in the center. I would highly recommend this yoyo if you are advancing into more “in depth” string trick play. It just “glides” over the string. For a collection, this is a necessity. Well done Yoyojam!
