Yoyos with rubber-coated rims?

At least in my experience, the xodus’s rubber rims hurt a lot more than a sharp metal yoyo.

I don’t buy that. If we’re talking about the same level of impact in the same part of the body, there’s no way that rubber would hurt more than metal.

Rubber could pull hairs, or maybe “do a burnout” on the skin. That could hurt more than a metal. I’m just spitballin’ here. But i do see rubber yoyos have a higher volume of impacts during a session due to rubber being able to grip and do unexpected things. I think i’d have to agree with the others on this one, i’d rather get hit with a metal yoyo that slides vs a rubber yoyo that grips.

Edit, i do have a rubber rimmed hyabusa that’s modded for 5A that i do play quite often, so i’m not just pulling this out of thin air. Maybe because it’s big (like most rubber yoyo) but i do NOT want that thing flying at my face or hands. It hurts.

I have a Yomega Xodus. I haven’t taken many hits with it because I don’t use it as often, but my experience thus far is that it hurts less than my metal yoyos, even though it weighs quite a bit more and is larger. Never once has the Yomega claimed a single hair or cause a burnout. It would do that if you try to do a grind with it while it’s spinning fast, but not if it whacks you in the knuckles head on. And for the record, if I’d have to choose, I’d rather have a hair pulled than a bone fracture.
