I fly at least once a month and take anywhere from 6 throws to a full on hard case with 24 throws through security as my carry on and have never once had any problems. They are yoyos, security knows this. Also yes, lube in your carry on liquids bag is fine as long as it’s less than 3 ounces (approx 90 MLs) and in the quart size bag. I’ve honestly done it monthly for years.
I took all my yoyos in a small YoYoExpert Case (took the foam out an stuffed 15 throws in there) and took it with me as a carry-on, no problem what-so-ever, just don’t leave the yoyo in your pocket when your going through the metal detector, take it out a put it in the plastic bin. And don’t take your lube on as a carry on.
