I’m gonna assume that they are both steel. My method of justification may not be that accurate but it works for me. So the draupnir’s tempered rims looked like tempered steel. Therefor I believe it’s steel. If you look at the not tempered one and compare it the laser’s rim they look very similar. So I think it would be safe to assume it is also steel.
I know absolutely nothing about metal or metallurgy but my googling results show that tempered steel can easily cause the metal to take on the colors of the tempered rim Draupnir but I’ve yet to see that in tempered 6061 or 7075 aluminum, although the aluminum is apparently considered a different grade/ temper grade or something once tempered…at least according to the mighty wikipedia.
Yes, different grades of 7075 are just heat-treated 7075. The various grades denote the temperature and the time that temperature is held. This generally creates increasing hardness, not density.
This is why is seriously doubt the different grades of 7075 contention. I think it is a mis-translation of a poor description.
The other claim that this is stainless coated …anything just does not pass the sniff-test. Assuming they are stainless clad-unobtainium, the R&D costs of creating such a yoyo would be staggering. Every time you wanted to tweak the design, you would have to re-machine the unobtainium, then have it clad in stainless steel. Hard to imagine that.
Do you know what they have to go through to get unobtainium? Seriously.
Is there a good profile shot of the red Draupnir anywhere? I have enough in my PayPal for one and it’s becoming more tempting though I’m not sure between red and black.
Just took this. The red is amazing. Super rich and a great finish. Black also looks great though. Can’t go wrong with either. I’ll be adding a black soon enough I suspect.

Draupnir’s great. I have high hopes for the Laser but that will have to wait a few days for mine to arrive to know for certain. Uragment’s amazing, but no one should buy one because my goal is to own like 5 of them and they’re pretty rare.

Probably true. But it was also the only yoyo they were making for many months so not a lot of internal competition. That said it’s really amazing and definitely a special yoyo and for sure one of the best i’ve ever played with, so if you’re looking to pick a YYR up i’d definitely look for one.
