I am tired of buying first-run YYR raw yo-yo’s. Over time, they pit. Done with that. Also, the polished catch zone tends to be …catchy. A blast option would nice.
What do you think the first color will be? …Black, or puke green? Maybe sometime in July?
I am still waiting on a decent color Draupnir. The purple was cool; but that 44-Clash engraving was overpowering and was not particularly interesting.
Speaking of which, when was the last time they had Drauppnir’s in stock?
Yawn
Just so everyone knows, the reason they do first run of yoyos raw is because they make these to cater to Japanese and other Asian players. If you look at most players competing you notice a big portion are using raw yoyos. I guess Japanese players like the simplicity and sheen of a shiny raw YoYo. I personally prefer anodized color but raw looks sweet too. In my opinion though the Raw should cost less though. No matter if many here don’t like the raw it’ll still sell out quick. So you either get it while you can or wait 5 months for an anodized version.
Raw looks better on stage and most competitive players wear gloves, so grinds aren’t an issue. That’s about it.
Exactly. And aluminum pitting can be easily stopped with very basic maintenance.
Can you please share it?
You can google it, but I’ll give you some steps anyways.

Wear gloves. This is probably the easiest way to prevent pitting.

After play, clean the yoyo with a very slightly damp napkin. This will take all the salts and crap of the surface of your yoyo. You can even go ham if its really dirty and wash it with a litte soap and water. Make sure to TOTALLY dry the yoyo afterwards.

Polish. There is quite a bit of raw yoyo polishing guides on the internet, so I would look it up, since I can’t post any links connecting to other yoyo stores :P.
And that’s about it. If you have super sweaty hands, you can put the tiniest amount of yoyo lube on a napkin and give the yoyo a good rubdown before and after play.
Anyone grab one of the Trick Motions from yoyo studio llama? Saw they finally started up an international store and was wondering how they played.

Gotta love japanese bimetals ;D
The mjollnir looks a little too ridiculous
Diameter(mm): 60
Width(mm): 45
Weight(g): 104
Interested to hear some reviews on the yoyo studio llama stuff once some people get it in their hands. Trick Motion looks nice but I think it would be too wide for me. If Macchiato gets an international release I may jump on it, though.
I’ve followed YYSL on Flickr for the past year, or more, and they’ve produced some amazing things.
So has anyone taken the plunge on the Sputnik ?
I ordered one, I have very high hopes for it.
Also, there’s a new run of light blue Schneider MK-IIs coming for anyone that missed out on the previous run. Blue is one of my favorite yoyo colors but I think I will probably have to pass unless some beautiful person decides to buy my orange one, I definitely can’t justify owning 2 of them. It has been one of my favorites since I got it and very well may be my all time favorite yoyo. If you don’t want the raw Sputnik but want some incredible lightweight midsized goodness with a blast and ano, the Schneider MK-II could definitely be the one for you.
Thank you!
Just realized, Sputnik is 52 mm dia… I like smaller throws…
And they lowered the price…
Any chances on a Raw Sleipnir restock…
Excuse my ignorance, but it is possible to powder coat or anodize a raw sputnik–right? Or is that only possible on certain metals?
As far as I am aware of, powdercoat can be applied to most metals, just not plastics. Anodizing can be done on 6061 and 7075 aluminum, but not on stainless steel, so if the sputnik does have stainless steel weight rings, anodization is a no-go.
No… But thanks for getting my hopes up.
idk but you probblly can cover the cup with some inert material first and then anodize the catch zone
On their site it says $202?
