I didn’t know it was that wrong of me to ask about a throw from a company that many members had a conversation about a day before in the same thread…sorry I couldn’t please you
I haven’t, but i’ve also yet to be convinced on the benefits of different metal weight rings, though i loved my Anglam and Berzerker, but i didn’t love the Anglam more than i would have 2 YYRs for the same price. Also my biggest issue, and i have the same one with YYR, is the release of the “Isotope 1.03”. Drives me crazy when companies try to sell us manufacturing errors as different editions. If they’re trying to tell me they sat down and decided the Isotope was great but it needed to weigh 1.03x more for maximum performance, then i’ll never believe them. Kind of like the YYR “+2” models where they wanted to tell us they added 2 grams to some designs for different performance, but no, can pretty much guarantee something got messed up somewhere along the production line and they ended up with yoyos that were 2g heavier than planned and needed a way to sell them. I also don’t believe CLYW’s light and heavy versions were entirely purposeful, and in that case it makes it especially difficult to know which is which since they’re not marked as such anywhere. Just a little rant on a topic that’s been bothering me. /rant off.
But yes get an Isotope, preferably a marble splash one, and let us know how you like it!
So, I noticed that yyr’s price has gone down since last year. Now since they are under 200, I can buy one without feeling guilty. I really like my avalanche, klr, and chief. What first Yyr do you think I should get. I like medium to fast throws.
Well, that’s back on topic. For a first YYR, the Sleipnir is a pretty safe bet and pretty much a staple of most YYR collections. It’s one of the YYR throws that’s more balanced in it’s performance which is to say that it doesn’t have extreme emphasis on any particular aspect. I can also readily recommend an Attune as a first up throw because it’s a bit more orthodox in size than the Sleipnir (which is slightly oversized and quite wide). YYR quote the Attune’s weight at 64g but it plays with a lot more oomph and a bit less speed than the weight would suggest.
As long as you pick something within your usual preferred spec range, I think you’ll be pretty pleased with whatever YYR you pick up.
The isotope looks awesome. I want to try one, but I wouldn’t pay that much for it.
Speaking of paying a lot for something… (Punny!)
I might be willing to give up my Anglam in a trade if someone has YYR that I want. The fragment, uragment, attune, gleipnir and overdrive have all really caught my eye.
I have tried an isotope and it is INCREDIBLE. It feels like a lighter more maneuverable positron. It is dead smooth and plays fast yet extremely stable. Really really nice throw
I would go with the z-on just based on what I’ve heard…
I’ll actually be able to give you an opinion on it based on play in a couple days when I get mine though.
As to the Mr. Butcher, I hear it doesn’t play like most YYRs. I heard it has a unique feel that you either love or hate
I did a temp trade for an Acrophobia and honestly it was one of my least favorite YYRs. It may be because i got an E=mc2 at the same time and that is my favorite YYR. To me the Acro lacked spin time, felt too light, and overall wasn’t my cup of tea. The e=mc2 is amazing and everyone needs one. Really want to try a fragment and an Overdrive
