It seems like they did post up a event for today. It seems that they are selling new prototypes, New versions of older models, and few older models. Pretty cool, Iāll just wait until the real things come out because Iām fine with what I have at the moment. Also if anyone buys a extra space prototype then just let my know.

Iām sure the deals are good if i knew what i was getting. I just canāt figure out quite what the choices are given the lack of pictures. New protos would easily be worth the money given that sometimes they donāt make it to production and are extremely rare, but yeah not gonna bite on any at the moment i donāt think.
I agree, without pictures you are just guessing. Without better info, it is hard to justify the risk vs. just waiting for the āreal thingā when it releases.

14,000Y on a lucky box containing 3 yyr? Thatās one thing, but spending that on a prototype you know nothing about is a different matter.
Just exactly how much of Sleipnir protos did they have on sale?
I second the sentiment here: the lack of photos makes it extremely hard to decide.
Are there any other yoyos made of 2017 aluminum? Never heard of anything but 6061 and 7075.
Iām sure everything listed there is a great deal and both the undersized, the Sleipnir 2017 and prototype new model sound interesting but Iām not spending $80-135 on something that I know effectively nothing about.

I picked up a 2017 Sleipnir!
ah i see where you guys are getting the info now. on the japanese version all it says is that there is a weight distribution change for the models, not new version. the specs are the same otherwise

From what Iāve heard, the 2017 Sleipnir is made out of a mix of Titanium, Aluminum, and Zinc. Very interestingā¦ Also, I probably wonāt be able to make it to the General-Yo meet, sorry 
Thereās a very tiny amount of zinc in 2017 aluminum. The main alloying component in 2017 aluminum is 3-4% copper (main alloying component in 7075 is 6% zinc).
Why am i concerned? 2017 aluminum, while easier to machine with, is a whole lot more expensive than 7075. That might mean that the finished product could be 30,000JPY and above.
Quite a sum to pay, unless YYR makes this Sleipnir much thinner than before.
But, by all means, please post up some really good photos once you get your hands on it.
