Correct. I just meant the $500 yoyo he was thinking of was the Dazzler, not the Laser.
I’m not sure why it didn’t see more production. There seemed to be a decent amount of A- and B grades, although they all play great to me, so maybe it was tough to machine with the thin lip or something. The demand was huge so surely they would have made more if there wasn’t something else going on.
Um, I think I understood that. I was taking the opportunity to point out the Laser was for sale at YYE. Sorry for throwing in a curve there… besides; what was your point?
Bit the bullet and purchased a Laser from someone on the BST. Wasn’t going to pay full retail for raw but with a slightly discounted price I don’t mind. If the play blows me away I’ll consider picking up an anodized one eventually…especially if there is a blasted one. If it bores me I’m sure someone will be happy to take it off my hands without having to lose too much money on it.
Now I only have to obsessively check to see if the mail came for a couple days instead of checking YYR at least twice every single day to see if an ano one dropped!
4/4, but i doubt they’ll be doing it this year, not like they have much inventory of old models left and no need to get rid of excess Draupnirs and Lasers.
If they are doing lucky boxes again it’ll probably be in much smaller numbers. I suspect they unloaded almost all of their old inventory with last year’s lucky boxes. Might get some discounts or some b-grade Draupnirs and Lasers this year but YYR always seem quite happy to just do their own thing so who knows.
So Kengo was at EYYC and I get to play with their newest yo-yos and talk to him.
Firstly, he confirmed there is STEEL ring in Draupnir and Laser, not 7075 ring as some shops are saying. And as you thought, Draupnir cant be sold in USA due to Yoyojam patents.
Tried Draupnir, this time it impressed me. I understand that most Yoyorecreation members use it on stage, it’s just amazing fo freestyle play. Not ultimately best yo-yo on market, but definitly in top 5.
Than it was time for Laser, I must say it was more fun to play than Draupnir. Maybe not as good for freestyle, but would prefer it for everyday playing.
Dazzler was unique and also great playing, but I dont think price is justified for me. I think Draupnir and Laser plays as good and I can get both of them for much cheaper.
Lastly new version of Diffusion, shape and dimension should be like Laser. Made from same platic as Aeronaut and will probably come in as many amazing colours(orange is best imho). Plays great for plastic and should be quite cheap.
Thanks for the info! And glad you enjoyed the yoyos. The Laser is definitely fun and needs to get more love. Excited for their new plastic. The Aeronaut has some great colors so definitely excited to see what they can come up with.
Okay guys! I’m ready to go in. I have been yoyoing for years now and never owned any YYR. I have a decent amount of yoyo’s, so the upgrade aspect is not totally there. I want to see what this hype is all about :). I love mid sized, and a lighter feel. I want all of your expert opinions in this thread. In all honesty, are these YYR the next level of yoyo’s?
I’ll second the Blink. After the Draupnir it is my 2nd favorite YYR and describes your preferences perfectly. There are at least two or three floating around the BST right now including yomagic’s that looks great.
Either the Blink or the Stargazer would be my picks for light-ish mid-sized YYR. Blinks are probably going to be easier to find around the BST but if you can find a Stargazer, snap it up ASAP. They are absolutely amazing.
