I think it’s funny how these companies charge a crap ton extra for 7075 throws when it only cost a few bucks more per yoyo being made in 7075

Is this true? I thought i remember David from OD or someone saying 7075 stock was considerably more expensive. They also said though that it wasn’t harder to machine or caused excess wear and tear which was interesting as that’s what most people think. Slightly more difficult to anodize, however looks like C3 figured that out just fine.

It doesn’t really wear out the tools or stress the machine any more than 6061. It is a harder and denser material but not enough to affect machining.

7075 IS much more expensive to purchase though. And as Geezer said, it is more difficult to anodize. There are trade-offs for both materials. Our experiment with the GZR line was to take a model that was made in 6061 and make it exactly the same in 7075 and compare the difference. Our conclusion from this experiment was that design has a much bigger impact on play than the difference between 6061 and 7075 although the difference in material matters as well.

From my research though it looks like at most the stock costs 2x the price, and there can’t be more than $10-$20 of aluminum in a yoyo, right? But then again OD have always been fair with prices and the GZR line was substantially more expensive, so i’ll trust them on that.
