^^ don’t try to deceive your parents. It won’t work, and if you got it then didn’t sell it, you’re going to lose some of their trust, which isn’t worth it over a yoyo.
Instead, explain the details of this deal to them. Show them how you’re getting $380 worth of stuff for $200, and this is likely the absolute cheapest way to get a Ti throw. If they don’t go for that, I suggest that you can try bargaining with your birthday or whatever other gift-giving holidays your family celebrates. When I was a kid and wanted something expensive, I’d try to ask if I could get the item then, and forgo a birthday or Christmas present in exchange.
Just don’t try to trick your parents, is really, really not worth it. The more maturely you can approach the subject with them, the more likely they are to agree to let you buy it.
OK first up this post might be long. Here’s the deal first my parents don’t take much interest in yoyo they don’t stop me from buying first up but now when I have shutter mystery box 2014 and some looping and a offstrin yoyo they say you already have these why would you buy more and they don’t listen when I try tell them the difference. I knew if I tell them about this deal straight up theil not litsen. I started conversation with an example or fake deal that you buy a car and you get a motorcycle and scooter and alloy wheels free will you buy it they say yes and ask me wheres the deal which company is giving it I laugh and my father guesses that I’m talking about yoyos. And he says you already have yoyos and I say that the deal us very good he says doesn’t matter and he give a example that the thing you already have doesn’t natter what then deal is. Refer first paragraph. And I say OK I’ll sell the ti and keep free stuff he agrees and he says why will a person buy from you because he can buy now with this deal. I say that what if someone doesn’t have money right now but has later when the retail price is 300$ that person will buy from me 150$ or 200$ depending on condition. Now you can see I’m not bluffing or cheating or deceive them and like fullthrotle says cheapest way to get a titanium refer first paragraph. Phew. It’s just that they think all yoyos are same and company’s are tricking people. Phew.
In my 8 years of yo-yoing and following new releases and the BST, I’ve never seen a deal this good for new throws, and only a couple of times on the BST–non-titanium throws though.
In Short: Do whatever you have to do to get your hands on this. Well…don’t sell your soul to the devil, because I’m pretty sure you can’t yoyo without a soul. You should try everything else though.
It just seems like a risky move to pay $200 now for a $50 yo-yo (the aluminum dream), in the hope that some third party you don’t know will follow through on an unenforceable agreement to buy the ti-dream from you in a couple months.
Since I believe Ben said the aluminum dream would be available for purchase at ~$50, it makes a lot more sense to just wait until you can buy it by itself. Or better yet, wait a couple more months when the aluminum dreams start showing up on the BST for $30.
Of course, if it all possible, try to persuade your parents to let you spring for the whole package–it’s a heck of a deal!
It kind sounds like you’re out of luck parvarsingh. It’s their money, and if they don’t want to spend it, they are justified in not doing so.
I also have to agree with your dad’s logic on selling the titanium. They likely won’t sell for $200 on the BST right away, and there’s no telling when they’ll return to going for $200. So even though if you are eventually able to sell it for $200, the other stuff isn’t truly free then, as there’s an opportunity cost and also risk associated with having $200 tied up for an indefinite amount of time.
That being said, it is pretty much the best deal you’re going to get in a long time. So if you really really really omgIforrealzneedthistitanium really want to get this deal, then I go back to my suggestion of bargaining with your birthday/other holiday gifts. Since your dad said he’d consider it if you could sell the titanium for $200, try making the deal that you’ll try to sell it, but if you don’t, you give up your next birthday present and possibly next holiday present in exchange for getting this package.
They still might not agree to that, so in the end, remember the wise words of the Rolling Stones, “You can’t always get what you want.”
Alas, the next perk is just a little nod to a milestone-- a seuede pouch for hitting $40K. But the milestone AFTER that will be very interesting if it gets hit: they will produce a plactic version of the yoyo (different design altogether, really, but the same profile and similar overall weight distribution) called the Big Dream.
Hope errbody decides to dream big… an injection-molded yoyo as the result of something that started as an impulsive idea by Ben? That would be pretty cool.
don’t get me wrong I said I was happy with my initial investment. once it got to Ti and an additional aluminium it was clearly a fantastic opportunity, I just find a suede pouch slightly odd.
But that isn’t how it works. If it were $5,000 profit you would even be close to having a question.
The marginal saving over the production of 25 more pieces doesn’t cover the cost either so I’m not sure why it even is a question. But since you did ask, you don’t get a plastic yoyo for $5,000 either, which is why we can’t add a new Porsche at $35k and instead, added a pouch.
^ Very special thanks to yyfben2, for marketing such a great idea, and offering all this great stuff. I always called him the best marketer in yo-yo, but I could never foresee this idea. I think it shows that YoyoFactory has such great supporters, very loyal fans, and I think we can make just about anything happen. And, thanks to all of you for continuing to buy, so I can get bonus stuff. :-*
Tracking says the “Trust Ben?” mystery pack and B grade Genesis perks will arrive today. I’m so excited!
Let’s keep the momentum going!
And, special thanks to YoyoExpert for allowing us to discuss all the excitement here.
I second that. Thank you Ben! Though I am not able to buy the Ti, 2 B Grade Shu Tas for $50 was a steal!
You’ll have to let us know what’s in the mystery box TA, though I’m sure you already had plans to do so. And yes, YYE is great for letting us discuss this here. I’m sure they think it’s as cool of an idea as we all do! This could revolutionize the way bigger companies test the waters of riskier endeavors. Maybe we’ll even see an indiegogo campaign from YYE in the future.
This deal has gotten better and better … I’ll be happy to get a pouch on top of the bearing and Al Dream yoyo as bonuses.
YYF has had no obligation to provide any perks at all on what already started as a good deal.
Thanks Ben!
