Such a cool colorway. Looks like it still isn’t very grind friendly, though, due to the smooth inner walls. Granted Tyler pulls off that one finger grind that would never work on my protostar, so maybe the material is slightly different? ???
I stand corrected, it is infact a Northstar! Im sorry! I thought when they were released they said they were the same as the PROTOstar, but I was wrong! Ill admit it =).
Mine arrived yesterday. First thing I noticed after unboxing it is how nice the swirl is. Very trippy. Second thing is the weight - I already knew I loved heavy throws due to my Counter Attack, but the Northstar just feels great on the string. I feel like my tricks are more consistent and deliberate with some heft. Placebo? Possibly, but I like it.
The material isn’t any different from previous YYF releases, but I didn’t expect it to be (even if I secretly wish it was.)

The ‘white’ anodize on the yoyo earlier in the thread wasn’t white,it’s just clear ano. The reason it looks white is because of the post photo processing and white balance of the image. Blasted surfaces out of anodize can look silver whitish depending on the contrasting ano colors around it.
^ We know there is no such thing as a “white” anodize, and it’s clear. But, in person, that yo-yo really looks just like it does in the photo. If I were to describe that color to someone unfamiliar with anodizing, it would be “white.” It is remarkable in person, without a doubt.

I also wish they would texturize the catch zone for finger grinds. I don’t understand why they left it all smooth, but then they textured the outer rims, which doesn’t really do much but allow me to be sloppy with chopstick.
Still, the proto/northstar must be my favorite design ever, because I enjoy them even more than my metals.
I still need to try a new diffusion though.
