The first ten seconds or so of speaking is missing completely from the transcription. Also, Andre talks about other weird type of string like friends of his who had used fishing line. That whole part is missing from the transcription near the beginning.

Around a minute ten seconds or so, Andre says that the yoyo will grab in the middle of the string, the transcript says “rav.” Next sentence, the transcript says the yoyo is “raving too much.”

Two sentences later, the transcript says that you want “attention that’s really even.” That should be " a tension."

Also, at the end, transcript is missing the sentence, " you want your string tension to be almost nil."

So, when you’re ready to do counterweight or freehand yoyoing, you need to learn how to hold it. It’s a little bit awkward at first because we’re used to holding the yo-yo on our hand, it’s usually attached. In this case, you actually have to hold on to the dice or the counterweight whatever you end up using. To do so, I’ve found the easiest way for me is: I hold the yo-yo up here at the top of my hand and I take the dice and it comes down through my fingers and I kind of grip it down near my pinkie finger, just like so. So I’ve got a good grip on the dice, a good grip on the yo-yo, and usually I bring my thumb wrapped up around here like so. So when I go to throw, I can kinda make a normal throwing motion and as the yo-yo releases, I can still hold on to the dice at the end. When you go to catch, same thing, you want to hold the dice down toward your pinkie, so when the yo-yo comes back up, you can just grab it with your pointer and thumb like so. Some people actually like to wrap the string around their finger, when they’re doing this, so that it feels normal. That way, you actually can get a normal throw, then you just have to unwrap it when you’re ready to do a trick. It’s a little more awkward though to sometimes do that, so it’s not always recommended. Another way to do it is to actually hold it in between your ring and middle finger, just like that. The thing with this that can happen is as it’s coming out sometimes you’ll actually release the whole yo-yo because it’s already coming off the center of your hands so that pulling motion sometimes can release it. With a little practice, it’s not a big deal. You’ll get used to it. Again, I just kind of recommend down by the pinkie. I found that I can get the most hold onto it that way in the most throw without feeling like I’m actually going to release the yo-yo and throw it off. It also seems to be the easiest way to catch the yo-yo again. So, that’s how to hold a counterweight for freehand play.

So, the next trick we’re going to show you today, it’s actually your first freehand trick. It’s double on trapeze release. What you do is you throw a trapeze, hold in a counterweight like we described in the last section. The trapeze looks like this. If you haven’t learned it already, from the first section, go take a look at that. So, you throw a trapeze: first step. The next step is you actually hold on the dice at the end here, bring the yo-yo back on twice like so, and you going to release the dice. It looks just like that. Let me show you again in fast speed. So, do the trapeze, you bring it double on, you release the dice, and catch it again. So, to break it down a little more, what you do, trapeze, you push into the string again to bring the yo-yo on twice. You can either throw the dice down; I mean even just releasing it allows it to swing and then you can bring your hand over and grab it. It’s just the whole idea is that you’re actually releasing the dice, and re-grabbing it again. You’ll notice that when I do it, I kinda give the dice a little bit more of a toss. That’s what really helps it shoot around. It’s pretty fancy looking if you can do it pretty fast. It just comes around, and you catch. You can also, kinda as it’s coming around, aim towards the bottom of the string at first, if you’re having a little hard time catching the dice. You can just bring your hand back up to the dice so you can catch it. So, one more time, double on, throw, and catch, and then bring the yo-yo back to your hand. And that is double on release trapeze.

So, the next freehand trick we’re going to show you is a trick called pinwheel. What happens is; is the yo-yo actually comes around your finger, you release it and you allow it to swing around and you re-grab it, just like that. So, what you’re doing here is instead of actually throwing a trapeze and releasing it, as the yo-yo comes around, you simply let go of it. Allow it to swing back over your finger and you catch again. So, to do this, swing the yo-yo up over. Just as the yo-yo is coming up around your finger like so, I let go, and I allow the dice to come back around and catch, just like that. So, one more time. You can see, I’m letting go of the dice just as the yo-yo is starting to come over my finger. It gives it enough movement to actually propel the dice up and over so that I can again, re-catch it. One more time, pinwheel. You swing the yo-yo up and over, I release the dice and because the yo-yo is pulling down on that, it allows the dice to shoot over and allow me to re-catch it. One of the things you want to try avoiding is as it’s coming around, is to pinch. It’s kind of a natural reaction. And even I’ll do it sometimes. If it’s coming around too fast then I pinch it to grab it. But you’ll get a much smoother transition if you don’t pinch and it’s going to help you out later on to get the feel for freehand play. If you can just hold it, and then I just re-grab the string, it makes the whole motion a one smooth motion and it allows you to get more control on the yo-yo just like that. And that’s a pinwheel.

So, the next trick you’re going to learn is called 360. It’s a really cool one. You’re actually throwing a trapeze and releasing it. The trick itself looks like this. You’re throwing it, you release and then re-catch. It’s just one movement. The yo-yo actually kinda carries that dice back around. See, you can re-catch it again. So, to do this trick, start with a trapeze. At first it’s going to feel weird 'cause you’re probably going to be afraid that you’re going to drop the yo-yo and not catch it all, but just practice this move a little bit. Get a really good swinging motion and you should be able to catch without too much trouble. So, to do this, swing the yo-yo. You want to take your throw hand that’s holding the dice and as the yo-yo is swinging up and over toward yourself, you actually want to let go of the dice and then re-catch it, just like that. I find that when I first started learning this trick, that if I held the dice just like so, let go of it as the yo-yo is swinging up over the finger that I had the most success than re-catching it without the yo-yo, doing something like that or it falls off. So, get a good swinging motion, release and then re-catch like that. Practice this a couple of times. You’ll start getting a feel for it and then once you really get the hang of it, you can make it look like this. Where, the minute it hits the trapeze, you can let go and catch just like that. It’s kind of a cool looking move. It actually breaks into a lot of other moves that we can learn later on in freehand play. That’s a 360.
