Iā€™m usually not a fan of the mini throws because I have big mitts, but Iā€™m excited to hubstack this badboy, I already placed an order for the hubstack kit.

Also this starlight looks fantastic and feels equally as good!

Iā€™m stoked for the mystery bag now!

Looks like my guess at the translation was spot on! Thanks for posting the full alphabet.

Yes, thank you! I would have never gotten this in a million years I feel like. But I played the HECK out of that game back in the MS-DOS days. One of the best!

Same here. Comm. Keen was the :poop:

yeah its been shown on youtube merely 2 years ago.

and much earlier many times here

unfortunately i think USA patents are now doing the first come first serve type of deal, so you can get patent just by applying first

iā€™d like to assume their patent is likely on how theyā€™re manufacturing the string with the swivel attached and not simply a string with a swivel attached because ā€œprior artā€ could easily be shown in that case. Can anyone find the patent application?

In the pictures of ā€œDNA stringā€ it looks like one length of string is looped through one end of a swivel and then the whole assembly is enclosed with heat shrinkable tubing with the other loop of the swivel protruding. The other length of string is fed through the free swivel loop and held in place with an overhand knot.

Without knowing the details of the patent, we can only guess what part of this construction is covered. It could be some part of the design or some part of the process used to manufacture it.

Edit to add: On Gentryā€™s website, the entire swivel is exposed.

This is what I was thinking about, just couldnā€™t come with a way they could have done anything particularly unique.

I donā€™t think getting a patent is too hard if nobody challenges it, and really who is there to challenge this?

I donā€™t like the principle of patents in yoyo, but at the end of the day I would definitely not pay extra for swivelling string anyways so I donā€™t really care in this instance.

Okā€¦ā€¦ for clarificationā€¦

The patent is not for use of a swivel.

Itā€™s not for a swivel on a string.

Itā€™s not for a string with a swivel, like itā€™s something new.

The patent is specifically for the way the string and swivel are constructed into a functional unit.

I was using swivels on looping yo-yos about 20+ years ago. I think it was back when I heard Fast Eddie did about 20,000 2 handed loops. Somebody told me he had used fishing swivels to control tension. I donā€™t know if that was ā€˜a factā€™. But it sounded good to me, lol.

And living a mile from the Pacific Ocean, I just happened to have a Tackle box with several different sizes of swivels, lol.

Soā€¦ there is no ā€˜argumentā€™ about how long various people have been trying out swivels on yo-yo strings.

When I made the mistake of mentioning the Yoyofactory patent, the statement was immediately identified as kinda preposterous. How could/would YYF try and patent something that has been known and used for Years? Whatā€™s the Big idea? Kind of foolishly redundant?

And when I responded to the, ā€˜Extremely lame to take a well known mod that they didnā€™t invent and patent it, ā€˜ it didnā€™t take a minute to suggest I was just starting an argument.

My, bringing more accurate information into the thread couldnā€™t be just to provide a more factual explanation into the equation. It was simply a case of me wanting to start trouble.

Soā€¦ bottom line> Yoyofactory came up with a very ingenious/intricate/but durable way to assemble the string and swivel.

Facts cannot be argued. They can only be discussed. If you state a fact but not the details, itā€™s only human nature to immediately dispute the said fact because not taking everything on face value has helped humans survive for thousands of years.

A Patent is a Legal Document that provides temporary protection of the Intellectual Property, to allow the patent holder to profit from sales of their product for the duration of the patent.

It gives the patent holder a legal leg to stand on in Court, against other that may bootleg the product in order to make illegal profit sales

Simpleā€¦

The patent application itself would certainly clarify. Do you have any info about it?

For the record, you were the one who brought up the idea that you were just trying to start an argumentā€¦ I was kind of confused about why you were trying to insult me, maybe my tone was off.

Man this is literally juat a swivel with some plastic around tbe end

Gentry has them on SALE at 3 for $9. His MSRP is $27ā€¦ you can buy a whole yoyo for this price. Shoot his King is probably worth $27 once you cut out his profit lol.

Totally and 100% another YoyoFactory ripoff.

Patent? Novody except kids wants this thing. You can spend the couple bucks to make your own, pretty much indefinitely once you have swivelsā€¦

Does this mean the patent is that they heat shrank a swivel with a yoyo string on it? Thatā€™sā€¦ very capitalist of them.

What happened to the Mystery Box topic I started? Did anyone else get theirs? Iā€™m going to the post office soon but I doubt it will be there as itā€™s been bouncing back and forth between the same two distribution centers for five days.
