Thanks bro. It has been a busy and difficult few days for me so I apologize for not spreading as much cheer over the last few days.
My oldest baby is days away from having our 1st grandchild and there were some complications due to my daughter’s health and not the pregnancy per se, but the pregnancy is involved in everything. Job stuff, health stuff, blah, blah. You know the story. Anyways. To hopefully make up for that…WEEEEEEEEE!!

Been playing around with strings again this weekend, and I think I’ve come to the conclusion that the Woody Wagon Stain strings I’ve made are more of a fat (Throw-Yo μ: 6cP) than a normal (Throw-Yo μ: 6cP) thickness.

…This also means that the Himalayan Honey strings I made for @Slestak75’s PiF box are actually μ: 14cP…

I’ll never not see them as boomer rope after Cody coined it :upside_down_face:

It is honestly a term of endearment! The “Rope” is impressive!

Black and Yellow = Throw Yo. Orange is the Fattest I had prior, dont remember the maker.

I will say there are a lot of my friends that don’t frequent YYE, so they’ll rarely ever see anything posted here. They mostly use instagram and then facebook second. So I think the insta will work out great.

I love making my own string.
Working with different colours and blends.

Someday I will give it a go.

I tried doing my own string but my toddlers don’t let such silly things happen in my home undisturbed. I figure in 20 years I can have nice things and do stuff that requires an undisturbed private space to work.

That sounds about right. Even with my 8 and 10 yearold, things arnt as easy as it could be.

My “Tool” room is not large enough… and it isnt as off limits as I was hoping.

“Where is my hammer?”
I think its out in the yard - Son
“Why is it there?”
I was Building Something- Son
“What else did you take?”
I dont remember- Son
“Did you knock anything over in my tool room?”
I dont think so- Son
“Why is the shaft on this tool bent”
Oh yeah, that fell while I was grabbing another tool. I put it back after it fell.-Son
“Where is the other tool you took?”
I dont remember- Son
“Go Find it.”

My 5 year old loves taking my nice drill. I have to keep the bits separate or risk him putting new holes in the wall. I’ve also stopped him several times from creatively attempting different tools to cut down the tree next to the driveway. He’s gonna figure it out one day and that’s gonna be one hell of a call to insurance. Hope they cover acts of toddler.

I did last year get him his own tool set. He says it’s not as good as mine…,

I built my workshop with locks on the doors and a master shut off for the electricity in the room that is high off the floor. I realize that they’ll eventually be able to reach the key and the box to turn the power on, but at least for now I know they can’t get in there and turn the band saw or table saw on, or even get in the shop. Will have to figure further safety measures as they get older.

Some people will disagree with this but for what it’s worth, I have seen value in this with 3 kids of my own coupled with memories from my own childhood. Kids are incredibly intelligent and they are capable of having memories imprinted on their minds that will be there for the rest of their lives, many adults can attest to this. So even from a young age, explain and show by example as best you can the importance of personal safety. Be honest with them about some of the dangers involved when not being cautious around any dangerous thing. While the young person might be incredibly intelligent, if they have never thought about these things…then they have never thought about these things, so maybe their mind has no idea why these things might be dangerous. In being open and incredibly safe in explaining and even giving my kids opportunities to put their hands (supervised) on these things, it removed all curiosity from their minds and mostly they decided for themselves it was no longer interesting. But if it was, they knew they could come to me and ask and we would explore it together. This is only my experience and in no way is it meant to be the end answer for everyone on Earth, but this is how it worked out for us. My youngest is 18 now and continues to astound me by recounting lessons she remembers and the impact they had. Be involved. You only get the chance once and it’s incredibly rewarding.

While it is Challenging and Frustrating at times. Its totally worth it.

They have a way of doing little things that makes your heart smile. You forget the frustration as it was replaced by Pride.

Then they turn into little crotch goblins again…
