This is certainly the path of less resistance. I was thinking just take Nate’s list from last year and swap out a trick or 2 from each week with something new.
Fair,
Was just brainstorming. But I think there is a lot of useful knowledge that could be gleamed by others.
I think this is perfect.
I think last year I noted that we skipped “Makin da zines” which is a fave of mine.
I don’t disagree I just think it’s important to ask the right question.
Absolutely!
Part of the reason I was suggesting this is… We only have 2 weeks to pull this off if we take it on.
I think we leverage and modify wherever we can to make this happen. However, not half assed. What we do should be quality.
I think 2 weeks is reasonable. We don’t have to solve every problem in 2 weeks, just enough to get kicked off.
I think the most important thing is lining up a few volunteers and their roles, and then we can build from there.
I can help with filming some tricks if needed. Just let me know.
I was planning to hold a FAF “contest” with weekly trick lists for our local yoyo community here as well, to encourage them to play fixed axle.
Continuing Brainstorming…
Maybe we can reach out to previous Hosts (Mr. Nate, Mr. Ed, Mr. Docpop, etc) "Would you film a trick/tutorial for this years FAF or MRM?)
*And Mr. Ardeus posts while I am typing. Yes Please Sir!
This is probably the most difficult task of everything. Not contacting them, but just having weekly video content for each group of tricks.
@Izipatia Am I just making this up or did you have a video of you doing a triple tower stall on a fixie?
This IS my biggest concern at this point.
Utilizing the Beginner Tricks on Yoyo Expert takes 1/3 of the pressure off.
If we have Volunteers for the Intermediate and Advanced in-house, we still need to iron out the logistics.
IF a previous Host/Member/Volunteer outside the club helps and submits a video, again that can help take some of the pressure off. I would not expect them to do a video every week. But, if we have a “Celebrity” trick for the week that we can use or add as a bonus, I think that could be cool.
Another Idea I just had. See if we can get participants to post variations. Here is the “Required” trick. Once complete, feel free to share modifications/variations to it.
Well, if @Ardeus is down that could work. He did take home the gold last year and it seems like he was born with the innate ability to pull off any fixie trick know to man.
Not to put any burden on you @Ardeus, but what tricks were you thinking of for your local community FAF?
More or less last year’s list, but with some swapped out.
Haven’t finalized which ones though.
Where can one find last years FAF?
Here’s last year’s list:
Week 1: Trapeze Stall, Brother Stall, Double or Nothing Stall, Makin Da Zines
Week 2: Zipper Stall (Over and Under), Stop-and-Go to Eli Hop, Shoot the Moon (3 Reps), Lunar Landing
Week 3: Paddle Ball, Tape Measure, Windshield Wipers, Backhand Balance to Lunar Landing
Week 4: Dumptrucks, Kickflip Suicide, Varial, Recaptures (Trapeze or Lunar Landing)
Bonus Tricks: Kwyjibo, Split the Atom, Spirit Bomb
Awesome! Thank you!
Not a triple but I did do a chopsticks to tower stall. @adamantiumpops showed me the trick!
I’ve done some editing in a professional setting. It wouldn’t be flashy or anything though i just make things look smooth and transition well. If you person is posting and editing then we need a shared drive to collaborate in.
I’ll note 2 weeks to video and edit is a bit of a crunch especially with a video then expected every week several weeks after. It’s doable but a fair bit of work to do well.
Where can I find that video? I think that would be a pretty cool trick to throw in for a week.
