Seeing as the current trick a week thread is all 1A I like the idea of responsive and fixed axle and more old school 1A tricks being featured for a boomer trick a week thing here.
Heck we could make it bi weekly no need to get wild with it two weeks to learn and present a trick on camera seems doable and a nominal pace.
Gah. I was ready for this. Checked the account and the wife spent my respawn money on a new bag. lol I guess that’s what I get for not communicating. She owes me.
I keep saying it, but I’m sick of all the 4.5+mm gaps on unresponsive yoyos. 4mm, maybe a tad wider is perfect for an unresponsive. FH1 inspired, 58mm x 38mm, schmoove grooves, 4-4.1ish gap, no more than 66g, needs to have some rim weight. Basically a @G2_Jake designed/inspired YWET. It would be a game over yoyo for me
You should try and afterlife. It’s a bit wider than your goal but hits a lot of boxes.
I started on the design with some notes we landed it. I’ll try to circle back to what we were at. I guess I can get this more rolling with the responsive waiting to be machined.
It is somewhat weight depenedent though. A 4.25mm gap on a light yoyo can result in messy binds, but that same gap on a 67g yoyo will bind very well.
The transfer from throw power into spin is way better on a sub 4.5mm gap too. Most modern yoyos lack that feel of your throw power being translated well into spin.
Some good examples of some sub 4.5mm gap yoyos the are the YYR Helvetica, Spinworthy Steadfast and just about any Onedrop yoyo. These all feel nice and powerful on the throw.
I think 4.35mm is a great gap width for yoyos 66g and up.
