Yoyo Boomers Club

I didn’t want to give YYF money so I bought a couple cork response new old stock from Spingear. Had to pay shipping from Japan but got two classics for like $60 shipped.

Lotaxi 3d modeled the response pads and I’m using them to experiment with 3d printed pads in various materials, cork fiber filament, carbon fiber composite, polypropylene, and tpu. Because the only current manufacturer of new pads is YYF and I wanted to subvert that. TPU pads are the best of the lot I think but I just mailed out some envelopes stuffed with pads to some folks to test.

Money still flows to YYF though, and I refuse to support them.

If you do get a used one or a new old stock from another manufacturer I’ll mail you some 3d printed replacement pads for free.

Same goes for any boomer that needs replacement pads, dm me and I’ll toss some in an envelope for you.

I’ll probably wait for the first few testers to let me know which material pads they like best and then I’m just gonna print a pile of them.

YYS has them - and “HUMPDAY” gets 15% off - so very tempting - but I’m suppose to be grounded. LOL!

Anyone playing a Turbo Grind Machine as a Fixie?

Well poop, I’ve been living under a rock on YYF being one not to support, don’t wanna open that can of worms with asking and I’ll trust y’all for reasoning.

Really sucks, I want more Kommunes in diff colors, but their are tons of good brands to support

Now what if I told you the folks that run yyf worked for playmaxx back in the day.

Not trying to stir pots just throwing out facts.

ACTUALLY! you do have one more option! the Pink Duncan ProYo, not sure if it counts as a Duncan yoyo though.

Honestly playmaxx is dead or at least those people gone so I’m less worried about that.

Like I’m not gonna boycott a company because someone’s great grandpa was in the kkk. Unless they start wearing great grandpas clothes.

I edited this comment to clarify I didn’t mind playmaxx since they are dead. Sorry for the confusing wording before.

tbf ppl’s gripes with yyf are FAR more recent than that and with at least one person that is still at the company

Yeah I meant I don’t mind buying playmaxx yo-yos because that company is dead. Unless I missed something.

YYF ain’t getting my money and I’m actively protesting them by providing free cork pads that aren’t YYF made.

What are you using for Adhesive to apply your printed ones?

For the cork fiber and carbon fiber they fit so snug you don’t need adhesive.

For the softer plastics polypropylene and tpu I’m sending them out without adhesive and recommend either a light spray of super 77, or cheap hairspray. Or even a little glue stick.

Oh no. I can’t actually fully express my opinion on YYF here in forum safe language.
