I just might make that soon.
For sure. You can still shoot for the moon on your raft.
It certainly is nice to be able to decide to make a yoyo and then make it happen the same day. Itās immediately more accessible than organising a design to get made at a machine shop and being places in a production queue.
The downside is that while simple in concept making consistently excellent wooden yoyos is very hard. Not only do you need to hone your skills in yoyo design, you need to grow in woodturning skills, wood sourcing and selection and ever increasing in your skills in concentricity.
i actually stripped my madhouse rad, and i just fixed it to play modern responsive. not the ideal shape, but it works.
sorry compulsion.
someone has to have both of these numbers. the yoyos arenāt priced at $60, or $100, so all these numbers are rooted in some sort of facts, based on what all these prior runs performance have shown. iād also assume that based on how many are not broken in transit to the consumer, rejects are higher on what is perceived as the qc sideā¦ though iām assuming
what is this, what is this benchmark? who is the judge? what is this compared to?
the original question was: what is your ideal responsive yoyo? the word ābestā was thrown right out the gate to describe wood. āperfectā to describe wood has been used prior. what makes it perfect when our world is filled with oodles of materials?
ideal in a philosophical sense puts forth thoughts of platonic forms and the like. ideal in a worldly sense puts forth thought of quantifiable and measurable attributes that can be compared, and possibly improved upon.
as mentioned, we could be on a raft or a rocketship, but we are improving both. glenās attempts are merely one example on the responsive side. there are very few of us on here that have been able to create our ideal responsive, so i was a little bummed that it took so long in the thread for ideas to come out. instead, othersā ideals were picked. not that they are bad, are they your perfect though?
i hope you all have figured out what iām getting at here by nowā¦
Maybe Iām dense. I donāt really know what the problem is, or understand what youāre getting at.
I have lots of yoyos that I love to play. Not a single one is perfect. Some are better than others, but the best are either good at one thing, and anotherās good at another. Some are pretty good at a lot of things. Some things about older ones I feel are better. Some things about newer ones I feel are an improvement. In general, I think yoyos are getting better, and better.
Cool creative people are coming up with cool new designs, or tweaking old ones, and eager consumers are buying them. What exactly are you trying so hard to fix?
Let us know how it works out. Are you using the outer race if the bearing? That diameter axle might not allow it to spin so nice. Also, the gap might actually keep it unresponsive, but you said it worksā¦ The weight is not ideal either.
thatās exactly what iiiiiiiiii am asking, big picture. as a designer, or a manufacturer - or as a consumer - what are you trying to fixā¦ i can keep going man, but iāve given enough milk away on this one. this cow didnāt come cheapā¦
Got ya!
I think SpectraPly, might be one way of minimizing rejects while still providing the beneficial qualities of wood?
Still wouldnāt want all of my wood yoyos made out of that. Variety is the spice of life. Wood gives that in spades!
it is, or i would think due to control of the consistency if the material, and itās damn beautiful. iām sure the pros can speak to any difficulties working with the product, as well as the expense. i would imagine you have to be on your game working with that materialā¦ higher risk, better reward
and i concur
agreed, the weight is kinda heavy. no im using a bearing blank.
OK, if for whatever reason youāre not in a place to buy yoyos right now, PM me, and Iāll send you a Legend Wing.
PMād
i havenāt had the opportunity to try one, unfortunatelyā¦ though it is one i really would like toā¦ my stars just havenāt aligned in terms of timingā¦ iāll snag oneā¦ itās like the best one i havenāt tried
I love the weekender, I donāt own one but Iāve played with @Sinister_Yoyos weekender and its the best responsive ive ever tried
I absolutely love my weekender. Iām eagerly awaiting the pop art.
The @DocPop Pop Art looks good
