Worst yoyo

I can’t tell if your serious or joking

The thing is… 2020 was an okay year for me… I know in general it wasn’t for many many people though…. However it all rolled into 2022 being a no good very bad year so it evened out.

also a yoyo designed intentionally to be bad is actually good at the intended design if it ends up playing bad there for its good right?

It’s his listed favourite yo-yo, he’s definitely joking here.

They can’t keep getting away with this

This is my favorite rock on a string and I will die on this hill

The worst I’ve played are those pressed steel yoyos you can get from the dollar store, has plastic starburst discs. First throw, string gets caught between the metal body and the disc. Felt flimsy, fortunately it was not mine. Felt like a tin can with a bearing.

Any of you ever played the Yomega Maverick?

Yup was my second metal, learned a lot on it!

Yes, it was perfection in design, atrocity in function.

It was my first metal yoyo. I remember it having a tendency to rocket at my face lol. Buddy got slammed pretty hard once.

I think I managed to tame mine, though I played it so much I wore those pads way down. Was also my first venture into cleaning bearings.

I’ll be standing beside you brother. I love the dv888 and the yomega maverick for that matter mr. @GnarlyCharlie

Neither should ever be played responsive but put a full spec C bearing and slimmer pads and they rip, imo.

yes please, at least in regard to yoyos, we need another dumpster fire (yoyo)

IMO anything with low quality control standards is candidate in this list of the worst yo-yos ever.

For instance, I once purchased a YYf replay which vibed really bad for some reason and was semi responsive. Had it returned and the store sent over another one but it still had the same issues.

I tried out the dumpster fire and the Christmas tree and I actually found both of them very fun to throw.
If I had the funds I would have bought the dumpster fire but when I met him at nationals I was too drawn into the Delrin Gamer!
The dumpster fire had some fun challenges, definitely not on my bad list either

See @MrYoyoThrower you succeed in failure so well it was a success!

I really feel like a thread for this should be possible without unfairly hurtling a designer’s feelings. These days, truly bad yoyos are few and far between (thankfully), but they do exist. It would be nice to be able warn people before they waste their money. Maybe some guidelines could be given by the moderators to prevent the thread from becoming toxic (since common sense no longer exists)?

I’m going to mention a really old one that I’m not sure is in production anymore: the Duncan Mosquito. (If this isn’t allowed, I’ll edit).

Thing was cheap, but dang. I’d rather spend it on a few butterflies with no bearings. It was too light, unstable, too narrow a gap for a bearing to be useful, the response pads peeled quickly, and it had spacers. Truly made doing Rock the Baby challenging.

Worse than the Butterfly??? How is that even possible??

It must have been a true travesty.:laughing::laughing: @Solemn_Kaizoku
