Oh that’s awesome, I just realized I watch a lot of your YT videos. Very inspirational and good choice in tunes! Congratulations!
hajime said in an interview that he used a yo-yo that was made for this tournament, but as far as I could see, it looked like a silver toru 0.999.
Did anyone who was there see his yoyo?
Wow Alex! Major props to you my man. That was awesome and inspiring and it took guts! I’m happy for u man! That motivated the hell out of me! Congrats and thank u
Well done dude thats awesome.
Some random thought:
If Mir win 2025, this makes him on same tier as Mickey as three-peat winner but in 3 different continents.
And if it happen IYYF should honor that by giving the chance for Korea first time to host WYYC in 2026. This will give some new experience like 2018.
One thought of mine… It would be really cool if Jakub won in his own country.
That was so sick dude! You recovered beautifully! I have a hard time landing tricks when I try to show my kids so I can’t even imagine the pressure one would feel on an INTERNATIONAL stage.
Amazing!!!
right!! i can land something 20 times in a row but the second i tell someone “hey watch this” all of a sudden my hands and brain forget how to communicate
Every. Freaking. Time!
I gave up even trying to show my old lady I got tired of the eye rolls and the disbelief when I would say, “hold on, one more try, I swear I just landed it ten times”
I cracked up when I saw this because I have the same issue. lol.
(Posting reply again because I accidentally deleted the last one)
One thing I enjoyed from the finals is seeing how Mir Kim has changed and elevated the game.
This year, more than ever, around the body and over the head big “banger” tricks are packed in with musical cues.
There was a time (not long ago!) when only a couple of these would be put in a routine due to risk, but Kim raised the standard by having bangers synced up to the music make up a large portion of his routine.
Seeing people including more of these tricks this year gives me an appreciation for both Mir Kim, and how much he’s shaken things up, but also for the other competitors, and how fast they’ve adapted and are catching up.
I have always wished that competitors would use music more, use the stage, and use big tricks. (In short, yo-yo more like Gentry and Mir).
This is because the top competitors represent the world of yoyo to the public. And doing crowd pleasing stuff like this, and taking the time to look cool as a person and put on a good show represents the community well.
As I said in an older post, when the public hears the words “yo-yo contest”,
But having stage presence, using music cues, and doing less slow/spiderweb tech makes the yo-yo scene harder to dismiss like this.
It makes us look cooler, and helps recruit the next generation. Just as I was originally inspired by Gentry and Paul Kerbel.
And Mir Kim’s use of well timed bangers, and the stage as a whole, has demonstrated just how well yoyoing like this can score.
And now everyone’s doing it. Standing in one place with your head down while doing complex rejections and largely ignoring the music will no longer cut it.
This is why I like Mir Kim so much.
I hope he wins next year.
Yo just wanna put a PSA here for all the people that were at worlds but y’all should get tested for covid bc a bunch of people that went to the event have been testing positive.
There’s a lot of other ways to have great showmanship and put on a great performance also. I really liked Jonathan Sittangang’s final and that one was a very different kind of performance than what Mir did (I also really liked Mir’s). Everyone yoyoing the same way is less interesting than seeing a variety of different styles.
And he did that routine with the Iceberg v2! That’s how you know that yoyo kills! Big congrats!!
So I haven’t been paying attention as much as I would like. Who were the top 3 in 5A? I really wish I could have made it but due to some old man health issues, I had to pass it up, plus I don’t think that would have been an ideal vacation for my 7 year old daughter who, at this time, hates yoyo’s. lol I would like to try to make it in 2025.
1st: Jihoo Lee
2nd: Naomi UEMAE
3rd: Sora Ishikawa

Awesome, thank you for the link!
I kind of figured he would take it. He’s got some amazing skill… I love his signature yoyo, even though I don’t play 5A (yet), it is a great 1A yoyo as well.
Hey this might not be the place for this, but I don’t know where else to post it.
When I was leaving the Hotel Cleveland, I found a two tone CLYW yo-yo by the steps leading out to the parking garage. It should still be in the lost and found there.
