A very woody Christmas. Two No Jives, three BC Lightnings, a Lovejoy and an Irving Pro.
Woot! Just got a TMBR Fremont for Christmas. My journey into the world of wood begins…
Anyone with more experience keen to comment on how atmospheric conditions could affect the characteristics of wood? As in, would living somewhere humid, such as Florida produce a yoyo that plays differently to a yoyo in Texas?
The reason I ask is because I have an Irving Pro and struggled to connect to it. It was just too unresponsive. However, I’ve had a lot of rain over the last few weeks and now it is more responsive, more snappy and plays so much better. I’m wondering if the wood absorbed some of the moisture in the air.
Yes the moisture has a lot to do with that… The string and wood are BOTH affected.
I just got my first wood yoyo. I love it. It is a Tom Kuhn Lightning.
Just got a LoveJoy today! its amazing! and I was thinking the EXACT same thing! I’m temped to try it, if it doesnt work, I can just peel it out!
Cheers,
On my Baldwin a friction sticker gives too much response until broken in.
You gouys both seem to have hit the TK/BC jackpot.
Love that jeweled TK, ColeJ.
I got a total of 70 dollars ,and I want to buy some wooden yo yos with it.I’m also getting a kendama so that takes about seventeen bucks off.
I’m planning of getting an irving pro ,but also a wood chucks yoyo. I’m wondering how good they are though. Are there any you recommend.Feel free to give me any suggestions.
In case you didn’t read this. Take it with a grain of salt, I may have received a dub. Take a look at the Lovejoy too.
@johnthejwolfe You might want to try a Baldwin or Freemont from TMBR before the Irving Pro it has a very unfamiliar shape that might spoil the whole game for you. the Irving Pro is probably my least favorite from them even though the OG Irving is my favorite.
@StillinKansasCity I’ve been meaning to talk up about woodchucks. I got a Whistle Pig and I truly adored it till the axle gave after hours on hours of play. That being said I had to put much more work than I would like for a 30 dollar hunk of wood. All the sanding and finishing it took a couple days till I could really get down on it. I would love to see Colin start playing with wood weights like that. The walnut inside with the Maple outside gave it a real floaty yet solid feel. It moved with both gumption and grace as if it adjusted mid dance to suit the mood.
TL;DR Liked mine but I know I got lucky
EH it was ok. Haha see what I did there. And btw nice song in the back joe bonamassa.
WOW good catch there… LOL Yes that was Joe…
The World record holder ! Smooth under pressure .Had to bring his food from Johnny Rockets because he had to leave to shatter the record! Nick can demolish a huge double burger as fast as he can do a ironwhip! Guiness should have been there for that too !!! Nice video Matt leave it to you guys.Best Regards James
Surprisingly got a Tom Kuhn Sleep Machine for christmas, my first wooden yoyo. Pretty cool since i got it from my aunt and uncle who really dont know much about yoyos.
