I haven’t made anything permanent yet because I’ll have to break them down again to sand/polish. I removed the burrs nicely with some “medium” foam backed sandpaper, but next I’ll try to chuck them in my drill to make the polishing go a little faster. I’m trying to prove that a 4 dollar yoyo can be more than meets the eye. So far so good.
I also want to dye them black. Why? To veil them in mystery, my dear.
Broken. Not beyond repair, bit still broken. I’m not sure how to go about fixing it. It would be like if you twisted it apart. It needs glued back together but I’m concerned about getting the gap right and liking up the halves in a way to make it smooth as possible.
I kinda feel bad. I emailed the seller and very gently explained the issue. A few hours later, a full refund hit my account along with an apology. I think it was broken in transit. It was shipped in a padded envelope.
That’s a let down for certain, but you might be able to experiment with orientations of the halves if the axle is intact and then use gorilla wood glue to fix it.
I’m thinking ill find something hard to use as a shim and compare it to the gap on my Atlas. Then I’ll just line up the lamination lines, add glue, insert the shim, and lay a book on it until it dries. You guys think that will work?
Buy a TMBR. You have very few options for currently produced woodies, however, Colin’s workmanship is second to none. I’ve played three Baldwins, a Fremont, and Irving Pro. All of them famtastic!
