Does it have something to do with the anodizing or are they actually cut differently?
It just seems strange to me because I dont know of any other yoyo that is like this.

The people making them differ, from my understanding.
I was wondering the same thing my self. Specifically the 7th gen Jack Rabbit is 1 gram less than the rest.
a better question is why does chris think hes making yoyos in Japan?
Different types = different weights.
