Who would you like to sponsor you

I would be happy to be a member of Team Yuengling & Funyuns. However, no one wants to see me in a Speedo. That said, while Yuengling is probably my favorite “big” brewer, I might prefer that one of the breweries in my hometown sponsor me.

I know and they all certainly feel low, really low, due to the favoritism to the green clan. It’s just not right bud!

I think I would like to be sponsored by Sf, YYF, Duncan, Mk1, CLYW or really anyone that has yoyos that I enjoy

I would save so much money with a Rockstar sponsorship. Caffeine is my gas.

If I didn’t decide to move on to starting my own yoyo company and had never joined CLYW.

My top choices would be:

CLYW, Turning Point, Mowl, YYF or Unprld

When I started (and at several times really) I would have LOVED to have been part of Duncan Crew. The history, the ridiculous pantheon of radical players, and so many close friends, but…

I think the smaller companies I’ve been part of ended up making a big impact on the player I became. After my pseudo-sponsorship w Throw Down gave me some background on the do’s and don’ts of yoyo design, SPYY picked me up. Right as we were designing the Ronin, Steve was like “Is this actually what you want to throw? It’s basically the opposite of the woodies you like.” We shelved it and designed the Flying V - a responsive metal in 2009 lol.

After SPYY closed up, I got to be part of Tom Kuhn for awhile which was amazing, and being on Werrd and CoreCo were both more about the team and friendships than anything I’ve actually done for the companies. (Lol I don’t know why those guys keep me around - they surely don’t need a 43 year-old who mainly throws wood!) My thing w TMBR isn’t sponsorship, but Colin (& Andre) have done so much to help me develop my style.

TL;DR A big part of what YOU get from sponsorship is not so much the “stuff” but the motivation. Every team I’ve been part of has kept me inspired to explore AND backed the wacky, non-competitive way I’ve gone about it. Find you a company where you like the PEOPLE, and which supports you for the person/player you ARE. You’ll be way happier than if you just seek whatever feels most prestigious.
