I would do almost anything to get one of those rebirths.
Thank you for spotting this!
It comes at a time when I just got back from vacation, so while I could justify it, I am gonna pass
I will say, they are beautiful in person if anyone is after a beautiful m1. Seller is asking more than I’d be willing to pay, but this is one that I’d gladly overpay for.
Another M1 in a lot in a killer case on the bay. Will be a fun auction to watch, some other gems in there as well.
Awesome find. I want that M1 so bad, but don’t need the rest. If anyone buys this and wants a ton of trades for it, hit me up, lol
I can’t believe two popped up this year
Good eyes friend
Another one up on the Bay. The seller is already sending out private discout offers.
Nice. Looks like it is the same one from the lot sold above. Smart move on the guys part, honestly.
I bought a Gold Nugget Peak and USPS lost it. I’m fighting them to get the insurance paid. If it goes through and this is still available, I’ll bite.
Thank you for sharing @Exmime
Today I purchased the one on the site in the above post.
I emailed David at One Drop this afternoon with a couple of questions. He responded quickly and provided some great information. Here is how it went.
Me:
I asked David how many and when
these were made/sold.
David:
My records show we made about 10 of these. The anodizer was a hobbyist who had figured this technique out but couldn’t do much in the way of quantity. These are very rare. They were sold in August of 2009.
Me:
I asked about the .555 pad availability.
David:
We don’t make .555 pads anymore, but yoyoexpert carries 2 or 3 varieties of them.
Me:
I asked him the origin of the name.
David:
One of our customers with the last name Lotempio came to visit. We took him out for affagados (espresso and ice cream) and he
loved it. He was the one who gave us the contact for the anodizer who did this finish and we felt like it looked like afagado when you get
near the bottom of the bowl and there is just melting ice cream and espresso left. So we sort of named it after him
Can’t wait to actually have it in hand and see how it looks up close
Love the name info!
Great info! Ask him when new Top Decks and Kuntoshes are coming next
Nice! One thing that is really striking when you have it in hand is the emerald green colors in amongst the brown. Some of them had more, some less, which can be seen in the pics of them throughout this thread.
Make sure to take a lot of pics and share them here when you get it, can’t wait to see!
I will post some better pictures once I wipe the drool off of it.
This was from the site I got it from.
I can see some hints of green on the top, and pictures don’t do it justice.
Awesome, and if it’s not your cup of tea, I’d be willing to give you these three. But honestly, it’s cool history, and if you’re into yoyoing, it’s best to keep it. See if there are General yo 555 pads, I like those, it’ll give it a good response.

Did the person who came up with the swirl technique work for GruntBull Anodizing at some time around the time of the Orbis throw release because the Portfolio part of the GruntBull website has the Orbis throw in a verry similar swirl pattern in multiple color combinations.
I would like to have one up close to photograph
Here’s mine from back in the day. According to my records, got it in August 2009 and sold it to Robert Alley in October 2012. I believe Rick did the Bassalope as well, although I got it from Justin in December 2009 so he may have done it, but I’m not sure Justin ever perfected that melted splash look for his own work. I sold the Bassalope three years ago.
Gorgeous! Are you happy?
Most definitely, looks better than expected. Thanks for all the input. Lighting makes it look more gold but it is more brown in person.
I am happy it went into the hands of someone that appreciates it for what it is.
Now pocket carry it daily and play the crap out of it. You know you want too, lol. I definitely put some tiny marks on the last two I owned, but the nice thing is, the anno covers them perfectly.
They did it before gruntbull
@Vendetta could provide more information I believe
