Which Yoyo Is Your “Holy Grail?”

Not trying to tell you what to like. Just pointing out that even Onedrop does not use SE’s in their titanium throws. So, using them as a requirement limits your options.

You’re right–Side Effects were a requirement, but Titanium wasn’t, I mentioned aluminum as well–I am limiting my options a little bit, but I do have options, and a fair amount as well.

Does anyone know if OD ever made Teal Reboots?

There were only three (3) releases of Reboot so far. No Teal yet

My holy grail is always the one coming in the mail next.

I never really intended to be collector, so I don’t have a “prized” yoyo per se. I’m ok with that, though, because the yoyos I plan on keeping are all functional & serve a purpose. That said, there sure are some cool throws that would be nice to have.

My grails have changed over the past couple years, but one that has remained almost as long as I’ve been back in the hobby is the MagicYoYo Katana. Not only does it look cool, but I think I would actually like how it plays. I pursued it for a good year or more from the moment I saw it on Dylan’s channel - to no avail (almost got scammed for it once & even contacted MYY). With so many awesome colorways, it’s hard to choose, but I’d probably pick the blue w/ gold, raw, or rainbow rings as my favorite. So many great choices, who knows? (Couldn’t find great pics. Just check Kowalski’s analysis).

My other (and only slightly less obtainable) pick would be the Ineffable Saber in either Celtic Green or Roman Red. I generally don’t like the idea of shelf queens, but these things are works of art.

I have coveted this for a very long time but had other goals first.

This is my holy grail.

Bro… first time I went to my local YoYo club, and first YoYo I got to try from someone’s collection, and it was a Summit. I couldn’t believe I had it in my hands. I looped it onto my finger and gave it a toss and the string was about 2 ft longer that I expect and I pelted it directly into the (fortunately carpeted) floor. I had been there for all of 5 min and had never met anyone there.

Only slightly awkward.

I’m a pretty tall guy, and because of that, my brothers always give me a hard time about using short string.

They’re like: “Come on, Evan—why don’t you use longer string? Your tricks will be so much easier!”

Well, I don’t use long string anymore, because people kept hurling my yo-yos into the ground… not to mention the disappointed look on my younger siblings faces when they can’t use my yo-yo because the string is too long.

So yeah, long string is a no-go for now, I guess.

The first (and so far only) time I got to go to a yoyo club, someone handed me - a player who had only been back at it for < 6 months - their Ti. I was so paranoid, so I threw it from about my collarbone and still sent the thing into the dirt (not carpeted, btw). It obviously didn’t hurt it, but I still felt so bad. Thankfully the guy didn’t care, and from then on I threw all of his yoyos from the level of my nose or over my finger.

Been yo-yoing for only 14 months or so, so mine will likely change. Currently it’s a blue Brexia and an Iceberg, but by the time I can actually afford to throw away that kind of dough it’ll likely be gone soo :man_shrugging:
Then again, holy grails are half unobtainable

As far as grails go, those are actually fairly attainable. I certainly wouldn’t worry about the Iceberg (famous last words), as tons of them have been produced and they’re still available new for a reasonable price. Finding a Brexia in that specific colorway will be a little trickier, but should still be doable.

Do you think the brexia is viable for tech and more slow tricks? That is probably my playstyle and brexia looks like a great yoyo for it!

I saw a video review and the gentleman described the play as “luxurious.” Tech is not bad at all from what I’ve heard, and yeah it is better to go slower. That being said it should be very controllable.

Edit: the video is from @KirbyRobot
Really thorough. Watch if interested

What makes them grails for me is their relative unattainability. I won’t have enough spending money to justify those purchases for at least a year and a half, and who knows what’ll happen by then.

But hey, hopefully by that time I will know enough tricks to justify such a purchase. After buying my Shooting Star I’ve been learning. My mindset when considering a purchase is to get something that plays unlike anything I own, and will encourage me to keep playing.
