Where do you think beginner yo-yo design is headed?

Howdy Colin,

Since I started yo-yoing again earlier this year, I’ve seen a lot of pretty good starter yo-yos recommended, like the First Base, Sage, or Arrow. However, there’s a big gap between these price-wise and something like the Butterfly XT, which are cheap and very widely available. What do you think might eventually fill that gap? What would your ideal yo-yo for little kids look like?

I may be mistaken but I feel like YYF offers good options in stores nationwide that are slightly cheaper than the yo-yos you mentioned, for example, the Replay. I personally feel like any of these beginner plastics are pretty ideal to people starting out now, especially ones that have decently working bearings. I think the more important part is improving how people are taught the basics.
