omg i’m applying there for a double major! go lunatics
That’s amazing, what age did you really get into yoyoing? I hope I’m still throwing at 85 and I wish I could retire at 52 but I’m fare away from retiring. That’s really inspiring, I think it’s a healthy hobby too, at least it keeps you active. I’m not going to lie, when I first started, I got full body sore from it, I have really been lacking on the exercise lately, I need to get back to it.
That’s a good point and I see that my statement could suggest that I also think you are dumb if you don’t have a college degree but that couldn’t be further from the truth, I know plenty of dumb dumb DUMB people with college degrees. I certainty didn’t mean to suggest that a person is unintelligent if they don’t have one… just as a reminder, I don’t have a college degree. Another thing about this is, yes, I made it into this industry with a lot of hard work and self discipline, but I would get paid more doing the same thing if I did have a college degree… that’s just silly to me.
Retired in 2013 as a systems engineer with a decent pension and investments. Been involved in Scouting ever since. Last month saw a BSA logo’d Duncan Hornet and picked it up on a lark. A few weeks later decided it was a little slow spinning so got a Butterfly XT. Started watching all the cool yoyo’ing videos on Youtube and decided I needed an unresponsive and got a Duncan Torque (I have a brand loyalty issue). Have been pulling my hair out ever since. Still a cheaper hobby than my motorcycles.
The only time I really got into yo-yoing was in grammar school - about the 5th grade. Several others had yoyos and the peer pressure thing took over. However by serious I mean I only learned to walk the dog, around the world and maybe one other simple trick.
I tried to interest my children several times without luck. And there was a simple attempt to yoyo once or twice over the years when a yoyo was handy too.
Moving into this retirement facility about a dozen years ago the Resident Services Director who sets up entertainment for us bought a box of yoyos and invited everyone to give them a try. My walk the dog trick was the hit of the show.
That little bit of fun caused me to look around for an online yoyo group and me to buy an aluminum one and attempt to get back in the groove, it hasn’t taken even though I’ve collected a handful of yoyos.
It’s been fun following this forum and I thoroughly enjoy reading about others having a good time yo-yoing.
Yo-yoing really had a hard time competing with me getting into ham radio at age 9. I have been actively pursuing that hobby for over 75 years now.
My latest Yoyo adventure began when reading about looping several weeks ago…now have two looping yoyos and when I need some fresh air, walk out onto the balcony and attempt throwing a little while looking over the hustle bustle of the busy city below.
Some of my favorite people are DPTs. They help me a lot.
Musician , yoyo company, but my main form of income is in home care for people with mental and physical disabilities.
So what are some of the throws you’d love to have?
I’ve got some great ones. Laevitinn, Emotion, Fat Tire 20/20, Pilgrim, Shutter, and Gheedorah.
Currently the PLTPS is at the top of my list. Nine Dragons would be cool, as would a Panorama. I’ve been trying to keep my wish list trim
It’s tough to hold on to a wish list when holding on to it is about all you can do…
Musician + Photographer
I have a nine dragons i only keep cause kids at club love the dang thing. i would give it to you but then the kids would ask about it every time lol.
Apparently i need to get some brandon vu yoyos as well or im not a real yoyoer said one of the 8 year olds…
This is a cool thread. Love seeing what everyone does for a profession. It always surprises me how many people on here have incredibly legit adult professions. It’s awesome!
I’ll add to the list. I photograph artwork for galleries, institutions, resale- really just anytime artwork needs a photo taken of it.
Some of Offset’s stuff have come and gone from my list
I have worked on emergency vehicles electronics for 11 years, learned it as a kid (dads career)
But its a skill that pays the bills
I coach college volleyball and am currently looking for a part-time job as a sports performance trainer to supplement (believe it or not, college volleyball is not the most lucrative job in the world lol)

Welcome to the forums!
Yeah, that’s how I justify my spending on more and more and more yoyo’s… It’s a lot cheaper than other hobbies that I’m into. But, it does add up. Since January, I’ve probably spent about 2k on yoyo’s and yoyo related stuff but I’m having fun and that’s what it’s all about. If you do want to stop spending, stay away from the, “What Did You Get in the Mail” thread!
73’s and 99’s

I’ve been watching those. Ouch, and… ohh Nice! I need to get better at what I got before going down that road though. Still just trying to reliably bind and maybe start working on doing breakaway throws.
