My mom’s in real estate it really is up and down in funds. She’s relatively successful too it’s just some sales you can put so many hours days or weeks into and they fall through cause the buyer has an ego
Sounds awesome and sounds like a good plan. Just remember, it’s not like riding a bike, you have to keep at it or you will lose it. I made the mistake of taking some time off and while I didn’t lose everything, it was a huge set back… so, I just recommend, setting a reminder on your phone and taking at least an hour out of your day to continue your education. Before, I couldn’t wait to get off of work, now I have a hard time pealing myself away from the computer because I enjoy it so much and the time flies by… but I’m still pretty new, only been at this professionally for 2 years now.
I’m still in highschool, so not really my “profession”, more just how I afford my yo-yos
I screen print t shirts for several different construction companies, it’s fun, pays pretty well for a highschool job, and I can come in whenever I want, just sometimes they don’t need any shirts and I have nothing for several months lol
I’m the Lead Web Developer at an advertising agency. Started way back as a Sys Admin, moved to Dev, and worked my way up over various jobs throughout the years. I also did a stints working as a freelance writer, Professional DM, Twitch manager for Gfinity Esports, and wrote news and reviews in the Tabletop industry on the side for about 15 years.
Yup, that’s the goal for me! I’m currently doing working on it before I start my shifts at my job so I’m already getting into “work mode” for the day while I’m still fresh in the brain. It’s working well so far
Well…I have a Bachelors in Biomedical Science with a Minor in Public Health, and a Masters in Forensic Science, certification in Blood Spatter and DNA Analysis, and a Professional Degree in Photoshop.
All of which got me the “you’re overqualified for this” in every position I applied for.
So, instead of any dream jobs, I did Engineering work through a friend on validation testing the first DEF systems for cleaner-energy applications to enter the US market, and now manage a Business Development group who works with companies on EPA compliance components. Overworked, underpaid, broke from school still to this day, and not quite the path I had planned, haha.
Wanted to be a veterinarian in the very beginning as well, but it was expensive and hard and I ultimately cared too much about animals to be effective, lol.
I’ve got two bachelors; 1 in kinesiology and 1 in Biology (Pharmacology/Toxicology). I currently plan lab events for surgeons and medical device testing around the USA. I’m going to become a teacher for 7th-12th grade in July! (:
I used to have dreams. Those are all gone now. But I did end up as an assistant IT admin for an entire school district. My longest held job thus far. My degree is in media arts so the jump to tech wasn’t too bad. I’m still pretty lost at my job and I have a nightmarish case of imposter syndrome with a hint of “don’t you put all this blame on me”, but it pays my bills and I love the hands on part. I want to go back and get my bachelors, maybe a masters, but ain’t no way I’m fitting that in if they move me to full time/ department head. I really don’t want all that resting on me for another 27 years.
I had a brief stint doing my dream job. All my life I wanted to work for Apple. I lasted 4 months on the tech support phone line and I made A LOT of people angry. I CANNOT handle people. Some of those skills carried over to my current job though, so I’m slightly better at handling teachers and setting expectations, small instances of teaching and prevention from an end user standpoint. So it wasn’t all bad.

High School Graduate. College and I didn’t agree either. Technical Training and Certifications = Masters of Business.
I’m a Lieutenant in the Florida Department of Corrections. The pay is good, the benefits are outstanding, the atmosphere…well…the stuff I’ve seen over the years would make most people cringe. All in all I have a great shift with good sergeants and officers and our goal is to make sure we all go home at the end of the day. Yoyo really helps me decompress at night and chills me out as the stress level can be through the roof.
A/V technician, Graphic Artist at a theme park since 2016.
I make signs and logos for shows and events (and scenic elements for some of our rides) as well as run audio for shows, just starting to tinker with lighting (that field confuses me).
I also operate machinery like boom and scissor lifts to install or strike things, have also operated followspots in a theater for a couple shows as well as drive floats around the park in a parade.
Those are delectable pieces right there.
That sounds enjoyable to me.
So u could work for hospitals working on xray tubes and generators? Im a Radiologic Technologist…aka…X-ray Tech. Ive worked at hospitals and clinics but for the past 2 plus years ive been doing mobile xrays. I go to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, homes, etc. If you cant get out in order to get your xray…I come to you. I love it. I drive alot but I love it. Couldn’t go back to a hospital.
I was a Chef. Now I’m a nurse, again.
But between the film camera, the knives, and yo-yos, my personal budget is always blown.
I spent my first 10 years after dropping out of college working as a technician and then ops manager at a microwave engineering firm. Pay wasn’t great and i really disliked climbing cell towers, so i left to chase dollars and get into sales. Within 4 years, two jobs, two new industries, both times laid off when the company was sold. I decided i was done working for other people. Almost exactly 4 years ago i signed up for barber school. I work for myself, make my own schedule, and earn a great yoyo budget. Honestly i make more doing this than i ever expected. The shop i work at is a 3 minute drive from the house and i have never been happier going to “work”.
Great story.
I’m a retired marine chemist, retired school teacher and retired disability program manager for the US Army. (The Army position was the best.)
Living uner the rainbow.
I watch tv all day. Yoyo money came from the on call time when I had to watch TV during off hours. Though now I build monitoring robots to do the job and build the television channels. Since not everyone can watch all 452 channels at once.
I was a college student once then graduated and taught at Phoenix Day School for the Deaf where I coached football & basketball teams all deaf played in Christian Youth Organization leagues in the city! I began teaching their but bodybuilding & California called me out and I moved west! I ran a high powered bodybuilding gym called “Bill Pearl “Gym in Anaheim Hills! Sold Equipment for BP Inc until 1984…then I returned to my home town in Jacksonville Illinois where I taught at the Illinois School for the Deaf until I retired in 2005…I was lucky enough to pay into a Tescher Retirement Service TRS and I received a modest retirement but my wonderful wife keeps me on a yoyo budget
