What's Your Favorite Hubstack Compatible Yo-Yo?

Ah yes, the “Hubstack”-- just admit it… you love them.

But don’t worry, you’re not alone. I too love our little separately spinning friends-- I love what they do; I love how they make a yo-yo feel during tricks, even if I’m not using the Hubstacks; all around, they are great!

So now I ask you…

“What’s Your Favorite Hubstack Compatible Yo-Yo?”

No matter which model it may be-- share it here, I’d love to know all about your faves!

No, I do not. I have never found a use for hubstacks that justifies the weight and negative effect that they have on yo-yo performance. They are a novelty that even YYF has used less and less.

I sit and yoyo for hours on the couch with hubstack pull since i don’t need the space to throw the yoyo

That’s definitely a great thing about them.

Do you have a favorite hubstack yoyo?

The 888

Same, and I really like my ‘10 888x with dice stacks. The whirr after a solid catch is very satisfying

They are the only ones I have with stacks, so that’s another vote for 888 lol

many of older yyf play much better and are better like modern weight without hubstack - G5, grind machine2, superstar, california (all these yoyo are too heavy 67+g with hubstack)

the ones that play good weight WITH hub stack
plastic grindmachine
07-08 888 (09 better without)
skyline
G5+
DNA (almost too heavy with hubstack)

there is no performance debuff as previous stated. if you are upset that yoyo spin 1:45 second instead of 2:00 second, i guess you can say that count. i do not care for this

also i believe many of these yoyo are fully design around center balance that hubstack give with enough rim weight to counter balance this center weight. many feel hollow and wrong without.

How About a Beat as All Else '07 888?

Weird. I was just wishing I had an '07-08 888 tonight. I pop on the forum, and here’s this thread.

I’ll never pay what that throw goes for, but it has a special place in my memory as it was considered the “elite” yoyo when I first got into the hobby. I remember watching a video on YT of the sleep time with that thing and being in utter shock with my Duncan Mosquito :joy:

It’d be cool to have a cheap hubstack throw again. Auldey makes some cool, innovative hubstack & free-spinning shell designs; sadly, YYE doesn’t carry them, and they’re rare on the BST.

I’m a big fan of my YYF Confusion with stacks. Pull starts out of a stall are my jam.

Ohhh dude… I gotta get my Auldey Aircut back from my brother…

I got one for $45 from YYF 5a may one year. They used to have really cool deals.

Has anyone tried the “Little Confusion?” it looks like it would be my jam.

I’m a bit biased but the timcor starfire is my favorite hubstack yoyo

Yoyofactory recently made 07 888 replicas, supposedly true to spec and I have heard good things (but I haven’t tried one.). Might be your answer for 59.99.

That looks very nice!

Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to get one right now… but it’s on my list for sure! (Most especially the blue one with the big 8s on it)

Alright, I was just talking to my brother, I’ll be trading one of my 2 Shutters for it; he seemed very understanding of me kind of wanting my first good yoyo back. (I traded it to him for his Bassacuda awhile back)
