What yoyo do you think you've used more than any other yoyo?

Not necessarily your favorite yoyo, but the one you’ve logged the most hours with.

Mine is probably the Duncan Throw Monkey. It was the best yoyo I had as a kid which means I used the hell out of it haha. Plus it came with a counterweight and it was wide and made of rubber which made it good for practicing 4A and 5A.

What yoyo do you think you’ve used the most?

Magnesium. Definitely magnesium. Then titanium, then aluminum, then plastic and lastly wood.

Probably my yyf horizon from way back when it came out. That yoyo also went through many hands because we used to trade yoyos in school. I traded it for some other metal yoyo, and then 2 or so years later the dude that I traded it with gave it back to me cause he stopped playing. I played that thing for many months after he gave it back to me because I couldn’t reliably order stuff to my house at the time.

For me for sure Zgrt - Qi (at this point I am playing it daily for one year and a half) and UNPRLD - Seiji which has same play time as the Qi, those 2 yoyos are also my favourites honestly, I don’t know why but those yoyos have a great feeling while playing for me and are perfect for my tricks and my hands, I tried so many yoyos during last year but those 2 stay there at the top

For me, lately, I’ve pretty much surprised myself at how much I like and throw this particular yo-yo.

My personal opinion on New yo-yo descriptions is that are more often than not, just a little too dreamy to me. All the vital things that came together and all the protos necessary to create a Magical masterpiece, etc…

But now and then, a New yo-yo write up tells such an Epic Saga of work that was needed this amazing yo-yo.

I’m a sucker for a good story… even if it’s borderline fantasy.

So…. I am reading about this yo-yo. It says it is 63mm in diameter(waaaay big)….it weighs 67.5g(for what?)…. 48mm wide(meh)…… and, it’s Magnesium.

And then the story begins how all the factors come together to create a yo-yo that plays extraordinary.

The final statement in the yo-yo description says,’ It’s significance apparent and open to individual interpretation, allowing everyone to freely envision the unique qualities and bodied in this extraordinary yo-yo.

Almost the entire description make the yo-yo sound like a Cake…. With Waaaay too much Frosting with a 1 gallon scoop of Ice Cream on the side.

….So, when the yo-yo dropped, I just watched to see just how fast it would sell out? There were only 5 to start with. Only 5 of an amazing yo-yo should sell out in 5 seconds just like a Monkey finger, right? Wrong, on the drop, the count stayed at 5. I checked back a while later…. Still at 5.

Was it the candy coated fantasy description? Was it the $300 price tag? Doubtful, since a good number of just as expensive or more expensive yo-yos sell out. Was it because people still aren’t sure about Magnesium? Dunno? Maybe the 63mm diameter was a deal breaker?

I know… this story has to have a point to it, eventually, right? Uh… it does, lol.

They say a sucker is born every 60 seconds… to somewhat test that theory, I set the stopwatch on my titanium Apple Watch and 60 seconds later, I stepped up and bought one.

Over the next few days while waiting for the mail, I would check out the count and it stayed at 4. I know a whole lotta suckers were born in the meantime, but none prolly into yo-yos so they never even saw it😉

So I opened the box and opened the tin and opened the black velvet pouch it was in…

A C3yoyodesign Sandevistan🙀

I put a string on it and down the string it rolled. Within a minute of it in motion, I had nothing but Happy thoughts. I went to bed smiling that night. And in the morning, my wife woke up before me. When I woke up she asked me what I was dreaming about? I told her I didn’t really remember off hand… why? She said you were smiling like the cat that ate the Canary.

A few days later, I visited the YYE Store and read the description again. And realized that is was fascinating how accurate it actually was. Especially considering how much doubt I felt about the candy coated write-up, which turned out to not be too dreamy at all.

So…. The Sandevistan ‘is’ the yo-yo that I throw the most. If you just look at the yo-yo and hold it in your hand, you may not expect much out of it… kinda big, sorta heavy(for most), etc.

But the moment you start throwing it around and realize they not only hit one out of the Park, but the ball bounced off the top of a car in the parking lot and traveled another 450 feet.

On the negative side(in my opinion) 1. I don’t feel a Magnesium yo-yo can take a good hit. 2. I don’t think the coating could take a good hit. 3. I would hesitate to practice crazy combos over hard surfaces because of #1 and #2. If…… you get one and play it ‘hard’ most likely you will smack it enough to bring down its resale value considerably. I am sure a $300 Titanium yo-yo would be a better investment for people that often end upselling their yo-yos to finance the purchase of other yo-yos.

But caveats aside, the Sandevistan is a Most excellent yo-yo. I wouldn’t call it a chopsticks yo-yo, lol. And the diameter/width combo certainly would not be as versatile for certain tricks as other yo-yos with different spec. Sets.

But you won’t see me selling this. It’s a Keeper.

…. it has a very comfortable shape, even considering it’s diameter. It rolls off the hand, very smoothly and hits the bottom of the string without jerking your finger. The weight distribution is incredibly effective in giving it a dynamic, spinning power. To me, it actually feels like you get more juice out of it than what you put into it. I’m not kidding. This sucker spins like it’s plugged into the wall. It’s very stable. Extremely smooth. A little vibe doesn’t really bother me, because when I started just about everything vibes, and the good yo-yos to me with the ones that buy the least… But they still vibe pretty much. This one literally floats on the string. No real edge five to speak of and no vibe coming up the string. I have no way of knowing if they’re all that way or maybe I just got lucky? Even on a fairly hard comeback , it feels good on the catch. It doesn’t hit your hand Like it’s trying to hurt you. I have at least six magnesium yo-yos. I like all of them. But I like this one the best.

Bee GT for sure. For unresponsive, probably Genesis as a model and one specific 888 I had as an individual yoyo.

Probably my YYJ Hitman from when i started and took a break…I carried that guy in my pocket for years. Since returning to the throw i would say Aotus by MFD and the DON by ZG are the ones i grab daily for 1A. and el MiJo in a variety of settings and materiel at this point has logged in enough hours to be up there as well.

Probably throw back skull toys winter solstice, it was my first yoyo that wasn’t a magic yoyo, and I used that thing for the longest time before getting any other yoyo. I used it so much the finish has rubbed off and grinds are way harder now.
Idk if that one is tho, the response pads fell out and I was so lazy i didn’t wanna order anymore, so I ended up using my yyf wedge for the next two months of solid yo-yoing, but I don’t think it’s enough to beat how much I used my winter solstice

Tom Kuhn Pocket Rocket, its my daily carry when im out and about.

I save my ither micros for at-home play so I dont lose them or something out in the wild.

The pocket rocket is a bit snaggier than I like for string tricks, but i use super thin Oh Canada string I got from RCS to make the most of it.

I have a mobile gamer for at-home play, between those two micros I have a dynamic duo for tiny slim lines lol. Love them both!

I spent alot of hours with the UNPRLD Recognition. Haven’t used it as much lately but last year I went thru 3 sets of response pads on it. Goodlife Valley close second.

If were counting when I was a kid yomega saber wing…that I never changed the string on ever cause I was too young to know how. :face_vomiting:

It would have been when I was a kid in the 90s. I put many hours in on a plastic Duncan butterfly because it was what I could afford.

Nowadays I change yoyos like I change my underwear. I hope to hold on to the ones I have now though.

I’ve had a Yoyoempire Little Fox 2 in my pocket for the past few years. It’s great. Just undersized enough. The green one has seen some things.
