Just started working on Black Hops. I’m still not quite regular in catching Triple or Nothing but this is a fun trick. It’s one that’s fun even when I’m missing.
@GTDropKnot, so when I said I landed it, I think I’m actually landing the beefhook incorrectly. I’m not sure if you can tell by this video but please let me know if you can see if it’s wrong. I did it slow-mo so you could see better. The reason why I think it’s wrong is I am unable to unmount it like you are doing.
(remember that Imgr works better for embedding video on this forum)
I’ve heard the name but I’m going to have to check out a tutorial for this.
Edit - I’ve actually recently seen someone do this and wonder how they did it. Just watched a tutorial, so I get the gist of it. Cool, I’m going to play around with this one tonight.
A bit harder to tell unless you unwind, but that looks correct. Nice job.
Very very close! Basically what happened was the U shape of string that hooks the yoyo is hooking the front half of the yoyo instead of the back half.
You can see the string in front of the yoyo right here. This means your timing is good but you want to try to keep the yoyo very very straight and in plane when you swing it over by th index. Also when you release with nth index and pull with the thumb to add power to the slack, make sure to pull towards yourself.
You should be able to unroll and then unroll more around both hands and into a 1.5 mount.
Thanks for the feedback, you nailed it, that’s exactly what’s happening. I will continue to practice this.
I actually do have another clip where I hold it much closer to the camera and unmount. What GTDropKnot pointed out sounds spot on so I won’t subject you all to that painful to watch clip!
Thanks though, even though I have been landing it wrong, it still feels good nonetheless! It will feel that much better when I land it properly.
Try gondola!! It was one of the first tricks I ever learned definitely doable!
Oh yes. I learned that one from Trick a Week. I do like that one a lot. The start on that is a Houdini Mount right? I’ve been curious about other things that start in a Houdini mount.
I find “Cold Fusion” to be much easier from a Houdini mount, but it does feel a bit naughty that way.
Here’s another one that whips to a Houdini mount. Challenging, but a well designed trick with multiple cool elements that are fun to work on.
This looks very doable. It seems like a more natural progression on what I’ve already learned. A lot of tricks involve multiple elements that I haven’t wrapped my head around so it gets near impossible for me to focus long enough to make meaningful progress. This trick seems to build off a lot of what I do know so I’m looking forward to learning it. Thanks Henry.
This does look a bit more difficult but it sure looks cool and fun. Thanks @hsb
Trying to go through this right now, but I can’t make the string form a loop that’s going around and is catchable (around 6:00).
I forgot about this thread… I’ve been working on Horizontal Tricks!
The classic Polo “slap” Double GT ever since @44sdls showed me how to do it. Just gotta grind for consistency at this point
(i put “slap” in quotes because there’s not really a slap / it’s extremely subtle vs another slap trick i know)
Welp i got something new to learn, super super cool trick. Thanks for posting this @Isaac
I found a way to get into a knot isolation from wrist mount. I’m not working on anything in particular but if anyone has any cool Knot Isolation tricks/videos (shout out @DocPop!) please lemme’ know. I’m searching for inspo!
I think learning ADHD could be fun for you. YoYowen has a tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O9Kl6x9r_M
Jason Lee’s Ping Pong could be a good fit for you too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCuaiO7xeTc&t=146s
Both of those are very different than the way I do knot isolations, but I think they are cool ways to think about what can be done and how to move differently in an isolation.
I am trying to get the “double or nothing” down. My first trick with a “layered” string set-up. While doing the trick, I started to speak to myself: “Inside - outside - outside”, to land the string on the right portion of each finger. I usually fail at “- outside”. But it’s close.
