I have a YYF/YT Ethos that eats strings like candy. there aren’t any machining issues or burrs in the response area, so i can only assume it’s the blue YYF pads that it can with. What pads are best for string life?
I’m not too concerned with longevity in the pads; I’m fine with pads that wear down quick since my fingers don’t come into contact with them, but overly fuzzy string is a pet peeve of mine.
Also, I read somewhere that you can “de-fuzz” a nylon string by running it lightly over a lighter. Is that legit or will that ruin the string.
I’m pretty sure that response pads don’t eat string. I’ve personally never had that issue with YYF blue pads or any pads. It’s more likely an issue with the area around the response.
