Hah no. ILYY is my favorite yoyo brand ever. Including mine. Mine just fall into the rest of them.
I will never bash YYF’s yoyos. Nor their customer service. I just bash on Ben because it’s fun and sometimes needed. People think I hate yoyofactory and that is simply not true. They have a lot of yo’s I don’t like but have more that I do like. Especially the velocity. Such a great yoyo. Well anyway, I have some YYF’s yo’s ad I like em. I won’t say I hate Ben because I have never met him but I don’t like his attitude towards certain things.
Yeah, I never really grouped you into the YYF-haterwagon anyway. I mean I know there was the whole Replay vs Muffin Top tissy that happened a while ago but you’ve made it clear as of late that you have no general disdain for YYF as a whole. This is more of what I’m talking about:
I can understand Batryn’s statement because he clearly points out that he has no basis in his dislike for YYF. I have a wierd quirk like that too - just the work put out by certain companies just don’t appeal to certain people (my quirk is One Drop - again, not sure why). But the random "I hate YYF"s are what I’d like to get some more knowledge on.
Not wanting to offend or to bash YYF but quality wise in terms of yoyos they really need to review them seriously. As a company they are well respected - enough said.
I have owned plenty of yoyos through the years from many known companies and I really respect their efforts but the main gripe I have always had since I started my collection and hobby was the same, and that is quality.
Please let me explain my pet peeves:1) Yoyos that easily crack (plastic ones) even when I am not playing them. 2) Axels that easily strip due to slightly over-tightening. 3) Crappy anodization of yoyo surface that comes off too easily (and selling at super premium prices). 4) Ridiculous to bordering on impossibility of removal of bearings from the seats without total destruction of said yoyos. 5) Difficult or too costly to replace the bearings of some yoyos (due to non standard sizes).
Those companies that did the above, they know who they are; and to return to the main question as to which is the best brand or yoyo company: it is the company that listens to what players want, pay attention to the quality of their products, keep pushing the boundaries of yoyo technological advancements and finally the GEM attitude of the company (Going Extra Mile).
Sounds far fetched? Take a good look at One Drop. Of all the companies, They deserved my most respect!
Just my 2 Cts.
That’s the kind of input I was looking for - actual logic-based reasoning. Although I will say that aside from the SPEC bearing, I’ve never experienced any shortcomings in quality from any YYF throw, though I have been informed of the Northstar cracking issues. And the tight bearing seats had gotten on my nerves too until I was informed of a solution (PM me if you want more details). It was also addressed by YYF with the Bearing Removal tool (again, PM me for more details).
And to clarify on my previous post, I believe One Drop is one of the (if not the) most innovative companies on the market today, and I have a great deal of respect for them. Just none of their designs ever seemed appealing to me.
@ratfacedudeguy,
Thanks for the offer on various solutions I have stated earlier but through the years I have garnered enough experience to either avoid or solved them. Let me state for the record based on my personal experience and it may have only affected my batch of yoyos though that my collection of YYF’s protostars (red, green and blue) and Northstars (both orange and whites) have cracks near the rims as well as near the axels not through extensive play but from just sitting pretty in my display case. As for poor anodization, my YYF Primo and Rockstar “paintwork” comes off too easily just from brushing against my jean’s top button during play.
As for the bearings, my love for Yomega yoyos faded when the bearings seized up and impossible to get a generic replacement.
FYI, the bearing removal tool has been in existence a year before YYF decided to slap a brand on it.
Before that I have destroyed many bearings and yoyos from YYF using pliers (madness I know sigh).
Don’t get me wrong here…I love the feel and play of YYF yoyos (just to set the record straight) but as I have said this post is just to state the reasons as to what sort of yoyo company deserves the “favorite” title.
Yeah I was aware of the prior existence of the bearing removal tool, as well as other alternatives which is why I offered to explain via PM had you not previously known, so as not to blatantly deter YYF bearing removal tool sales. I don’t mean to talk “down” or anything - I just don’t know you, so I basically have to assume you’re a noob lol. Same with you assuming I didn’t know about the prior existence of the bearing removal tool - no offense taken and I hope the same for you. Plus, hopefully someone less learned can gain from the extra info I gave that you didn’t need. In any case, again I appreciate you actually bringing something constructive to this discussion - that’s more than I can say about the vast majority of people who talk down on YYF.

Hating doesn’t help anything or anyone, it’s not constructive
YYF does indeed a lot for the community, thanks to their business model that allow em to bring some serious money to the community. They make money and they use it to sponsor people, events etc… these things are not free
they are good people, I had the chance to meet part of the YYF Europe staff as well as Ben and Hans which are both yoyo legends and wonderful people, if you do some research on who they are you’ll see what I mean.
but the more I look at it and the more I try to look for hard facts to make my own opinion, the more I feel the “I hate YYF” is more of a bandwagon thing, based on absolutely nothing or maybe one random guy who had a bad experience.
We all have bad days, specially those who work a lot and don’t count their hours, last time I’ve checked, the YYF staff went to Prague, Munich, new york, in less than 10 days. Now if one day, one of the guys has a hard time with jet lag and fatigue, it’s not that big of a deal because the hard truth is, they’re working their **** off for the community and this, DESPITE the whole “I hate YYF” bandwagon going.
they’re truly commited to the community and the money aspect of thing is necessary to build ambitious projects that will help the whole community.
That being said, ODYY is probably THE most innovative company
I’d like to see some more of YYJ too, new lines, smaller throws (every time I think I like a YYJ, I check out the specs and see a full size or oversize throw)
Hspin is my favorite all the way and i am glad some people here are trying hspin and liking it because not many people like and most people just try their exotic or weird throws like the envy, envy64, and pyro which you usually either hate or love. Oh and Codyjam i am sorry i broke your pocket change…I think it was yours and if it was lets just blame it on michael ;D
This is a “what you like” thread, not a “what I hate” thread. Lets get back on track and stop entertaining the “haters” with rebuttals of why they shouldn’t hate a company. In the end, haters will be haters and fanboys will be fanboys, so lets all just move on please.
