Why not one more attempt at this trick before bed?
[2 hours later…] oh no.
Why not one more attempt at this trick before bed?
[2 hours later…] oh no.
Biggest pet peeve is when I seem to suddenly have no finger dexterity for the day and can’t land the tricks I normally would.
Trying to accomplish something during the day but can’t stop checking the forums
Alternatively, trying to burn some downtime and the boards dead lol
Will you people stop being responsible employees and continue entertaining me please?! Thank you!
Okay pet peeve with hot take combined for you @SlowThrow .
When companies and people describe organic yo-yos as “fun” in comparison to competitive oriented designs. I didn’t know it was more fun to make a yo-yo less capable, it’s like saying a mini-van’s selling point is that it’s “fun” unlike those performance oriented Ferrari’s.
The act of yo-yoing is the fun, yo-yos I can do less with = less fun.
i agree with your hot take, fun and organic get thrown around together quite a bit. could be a combination of things - floatiness, agility, speed, maneuverability, comfort, etc., but never shortchange what kinda fun you can have in a minivan….. disco ball and some glow duncans….
Rather go to the drive-in in the minivan than the ferrari. We all do this for the ladies and nothing screams stability like a hot organic😉
I would say that a mini-van is more fun for some situations. Other’s may find their amusement in cramming several people into tiny sports car to drive in weekend traffic to the beach. I am not going to argue, but I am going to find a different ride.
Yoyo prices…
When work wants me to do work and I just want to spend all day 3d modeling a yoyo that looks like a diner plate with a slice of pie on it. ![]()
I mean, who doesn’t like a challenge?
I could have made the argument in a way that didn’t feel like a shot at organics but where is the fun in that?
All yo-yos are fun, I was just reversing roles here to illustrate how I don’t like that kind of approach in yoyo marketing and get some fun replies.
Edit: said fun 3 times terrible writing oh well (4 times now actually)
This idea has never really made sense to me either tbh since I think the challenge of learning new tricks or working on my execution of those tricks is the fun bit.
Once I learn a trick inside out, testing that mastery with a less inherently suitable yo-yo is fun.
I would agree with you on this hot take, but yoyo marketing consists of like, two people and a well used loved thesaurus. Additionally, this may be a difference of what we want out of yoyos. Personally, I want fun. I don’t need none of that performance dooples or cutting edge haberdasheries. Gimme a string, an axel and smooth, cylindrical hunks of metal. As long as it responds when I want it to and it doesn’t respond when I don’t want it to, that’s a solid yoyo
Yoyo-related: a week ago I burned my middle finger on my throw hand where the string loop goes. HUGE blister! It’s half-healed. I keep it covered with bandages but the tenderness and bandages make throwing a tiny bit uncomfortable and awkward. Oh, well. I still try several times a day. FYI: I was over someone’s house and put a mug in the microwave to heat water for some instant coffee. I didn’t realize the microwave was so powerful. After two minutes I grabbed the mug handle and instantly regretted it!
see that’s where you went wrong. the universe punished you for your blasphemy!
Yeah. Visiting non-coffee drinkers. What a shame.
But why are you, a coffee drinker, acquainted with non-coffee drinkers?
One of my pet peeves is going from bulk poly to boutique nylon and all slacks and whips are missed for the first bit, or probably vice versa.
For example, every ninja vanish I try turns into a knot, because the string feels like it’s going at warp speed.
My other pet peeve is untying tough knots. Most of the time if I spend more than 30 seconds untying the knot, I throw the string away, that’s why I like the freedom of bulk for that reason.
