What did you make? A thread for “makers”

Modded these babies into 5 strings.

I recently turned a bunch of ornaments for a charity auction held by Turners Warehouse (turnerswarehouse.com) for St. Jude hospital in Arizona. Every year they do a charity drive where they’ll take turned ornaments and auction them off for charity. Whatever they get from those donations get funneled directly to the hospital as a big lump-sum donation.

It’s my 3rd year doing it and these are some of the ornaments I made this year.

I built ~15 guitars between 2015 and 2020. Here’s the “keeper” gang:

Here’s one of many modded custom Swiss Army Knives (my EDC)

During COVID I jumped into the sewing rabbit hole. Here’s a jacket I made.

An acoustic I made a long time ago. Based off a Gibson J185 mini jumbo. And a body for a Tele that’s still unfinished…will be done oneday someday.

I have a beautiful set of obsidian mala beads I have to restring. They came on a knotted cord that finally wore out from use, and have been sitting in a box for a few years now :frowning:

We’ve been making knives at work.
We’re not entirely sure of the steel comp - we think it’s W2 or similar. Cedar handle with brass pins.
Anneal: 200C for 2 hours
HT: 1050C for 10 mins (these binches are thick) into room temp peanut oil
This one wasn’t annealed
Handle hardness: 64HRC

I wanted something a bit ‘weird’ so I went with an excessively long tang (I have big hands) and a modified Bowie. But now I need to learn leathercraft to make a sheath.
