What did you get in the mail, 2026?

Dang I’ve been looking for one recently. Loved the GM2 and regret selling them all over the years. Enjoy it!!! They are awesome!

Got this lovely G2 Gotham, Al7 Pilgrim in the post this morning from @RBT

Picked up my Blumi earlier today and have started putting it through ringer.

Initial impressions are very good. It feels like a brand new mid 00s metal yoyo, rather than a modern yoyo just trying to call back to older designs. I’m looking forward to putting more time on it.

Another Blumi!

Not had much time with it yet but I really dig the shape and seamless curves. Looking forward to putting it through its paces over the next few days.

I really, really like the feel of it! - the new version. At 53 grams it plays … soft (easy on the hand), but has enough mass to power thru. Compared to the Origen at 57 gr and the RBC at 49, it hits a sweet spot I never knew was out there! It makes me look better than I really am. I feel I’m lucky to find it - kinda like it was made for me. I’d like to try the 2018 version - a bit heavier, right?, but I’m having so much fun with the new 1, trying the old version is just not as important as it was a few weeks ago. Does that make sense? I think of the Origen as a heavy, smooth Cadillac type cruiser. The RBC is a hot rod that unfortunately shows my lack of skills. The TC just hits that sweet spot - for me.

For days I was like, “WHY does this feel lighter than my Origen (57 grms)” I finally weighed it &, ya 53 is much lighter than 61, go figure!

Finally an owner of a Cold Fusion GT, 27 years in the making!

Warning: jumping on top of the hype train may cause you to fall off

:joy: I’m enjoying the ride so far!

BIG mail day yesterday.

Bought one yoyo from @AudreySickburn and received 3. :joy: The Demon’s Fun RIPS! Very fun throw. Surprised it hasn’t sold out yet considering it’s only $110 for a Ti mr85 yoyo. The Everyday Caramel is also great, enjoying it so far. Too bad it never made it to its intended glory. Andy, I’m assuming the one that came in a compost/dog poop bag is a questionable first run everyday caramel?

The demon’s fun is officially my thinnest yoyo and I’m loving the challenge of landing varials and kickflip to string-landing.

Also bought x1000 StringBurn pads from Andy for a project I’m working on that will be unveiled later this summer! :sweat_droplets:

Plus trying out some new thin strings. Both the Can’t believe it’s not Canada and the OT slim feel great. But so far (more rigorous testing needed), I think the OT slim might be what I was looking for! I used to use Twisted Stringz regular as my go to, but I kept running into inconsistency issues in the twist tightness from string to string. Plus, they tend to leach an oily slick for some reason… I think it’s fabric softener, but I’m convinced it’s causing my RBC response pads to swell excessively, shrinking the gap. So far I’m liking the twist and feel of the OT Slims, hopefully they continue to work for me! :crossed_fingers:

I’ve been including a paper explaining it in the boxes but might have forgotten yours!

The poo bag one is a trash grade. Some of them aren’t too bad honestly but the QA was atrocious, they might have too narrow or too wide of a gap. They might be a little bulbous or they might be cut to the wrong profile shape. They are also super brittle.

The regular Caramels are machined beautifully but they are brittle on the axle so be careful. That’s why I ended up eating the cost of them and giving them away for free. Didn’t want to sell something that was gonna break in half if your dinged it on a hard floor.

Great, I figured as much but just wanted to check. Plus I love the poo bag. So funny!

Ya mine isn’t bad and plays pretty well. The halves are noticeably asymmetrical in the gap though. It’s kind of wild that this could happen from a CNC machine. It’s more as if it was hand turned. :joy: And ya, mystery brown plastic.

So i did troubleshooting with my new shop and it sounds like in their opinion the first shop, the main issue was with workholding. The first shop would turn a perfect half and then like rotate it to turn the other half and fail to find center and just bungle the second half.

It is also it turns out real Ultem. They just did such a bad job cutting them that there is lots of internal stress on the plastic.

Hmmmm interesting. The colour is significantly different too though?

So you gonna prototype with PEEK next? :joy:
Edit: actually PEKK?

Edit, edit: I’ve always wondered what a G10 yoyo would be like… maybe a multi piece fixie? Maybe a future project idea.

My understanding is there is some natural variation depending on where it was sourced from. The two versions also had different blasting media which kinda changed the color too.

I’ve thought about PEEK, and other higher grade plastics but they are so expensive. So not sure yet.

I do want to make a G10 and a Micarta yoyo. I also have ambitious plans at some point in the future to tap a certain machine shop that normally makes knives and ask them if they can machine a steel yoyo with interchangeable “knife scale” sides so you can install Ultem, g10, micarta, maybe some cool fat carbon etc.
