What are you throwing today?

These have been pretty much the only yoyos I’ve touched (outside of the yyf oh-gee) the past week.

Phoenix and Atlas, all 5A today.

Nightmare

Tundra has done the same to me, it’s too darn good and I can’t stop throwing it. That and my Evora are enough fun that I’ve decided to sell off stuff that I thought I never would. I’m sure I’ll miss the Fulvia BTM-R and Sovereign, but the Tundra and Evora are getting all of my play time anyways, so the others will be put to better use in somebody else’s collections hopefully.

This week I’ve been splitting time between The Cabal, Golyat, and Diffusion. All of them are very nice, but the Cabal easily tops this group with the best spin time, smooth play, stability, and build quality. The Diffusion is a close second, and I really like the feel of this yoyo. The DS bearing is fast becoming my favorite. The Golyat is fine, but can’t match the other 2. The spin time is significantly less, as well as stability. I think it’s the overall design. I did throw a DS bearing in it and there was a marked improvement, but not enough to catch the Cabal and Diffusion.

I also recently got my very first metal yoyo: A MarkMont Classic! The thing is off the charts sick, but I’m very new to modern yoyos, so going from some nice plastic to the MMC was quite the epiphany. It does everything well, at least what I am capable of. Haven’t spent much time with the MMC, but I’ll be doing that this weekend and next week. One thing I noticed right off was the sound it makes. It resonates, kinda sings on the string. You can really hear the 10 ball bearing. Is this normal with metal yoyos? Almost all my plastic throws are very quiet, with some close to dead silent. I put a DS bearing in there and it’s still singing, with no apparent change in play. Just wondering what to expect with metal throws, since I’m so new to them…

Depends on the yoyo, and it’s the same with plastics. Different yoyos will have different sounds due to how the material is distributed in the design of it. From what I remember of my MMC, it definitely had more of a harmonic sound than than a lot of yoyos. Titanium yoyos “sing” even better. I think the MMC might sound like that because it is a huge bowl shape, with an inner lip for grinding that would reverberate some noise around and amplify it. If it plays fine then it most likely is fine.

I made it non-responsive and carried it around all day. Major improvement. Really fun little throw.

Shark’s Honor

DV888. Been playing mine nonstop for the past week after getting sick of my horizon. Awesome yoyo, really fast and solid.

MOOOOOOOONshine

MagicYoyo and iYO Purple Line. REALLY needed some breaking in and I finally got a magic yoyo with a wonky bearing, so I swapped that for a gold plated Buddha bearing. It plays incredibly now. Nailing some of those advanced tricks.

Punchline

Regular or repeater?

That was one of SPYY’s best. That, the Pro, the Pistolero, and the Flying V are my top four from them.

The regular one. Yellow with gold splash. The way it plays just really speaks to my playstyle. Only thing I found that came close to it was a rebirth with aluminum spikes but even that barely compares.

The OG Punchline was a great throw. I would love to get my hands on one of the preproduction run with the red and clear splash. That combo rocked.

Here is the one that a friend of mine owns.

That splash is so unique. Looks beautiful and plays just as well. Mines beat and it still plays smooth. I don’t have an individual pic but it’s in my collection pic. Bottom left
