Yeah man, I love Forbidden Island! It’s one of my favorites! I use to play it a lot with my mom and as a solo game.
My copy got lost (along with a ton of other board games) when my dad moved (he threw SO much stuff away without even asking if I might want to take any of it).
I told my friend about the game, but she didn’t seem all that excited about it…so I’m not sure if I’ll be picking the game back up or not.

Splendor is on my very short list of next pick ups!

Pandemic is an awesome game! And with some house rules you can easy adjust the difficult of it.

Catan is also a lot of fun…you can really screw your opponents over on that one (or vice versa) via planting the robber on one’s most valuable hexes.

I went garage selling with a couple of friends a few years ago and found a copy of the game for $0.25! I went home and everything was not only there, but in absolutely brand new condition! It was AWESOME! haha

My partner and I have an extensive board game collection, but it took a lot of trial and ERROR to discover her preferences. Years ago, after exhaustively searching Board Game Geek forums and lists, the most commonly mentioned successful female ‘gateway’ game was Castles of Burgundy. As advertised, my partnered adored it. Years later and its still one of her absolute favorites. Fortuitously, it’s also quite inexpensive.

Over the years, many of her favorites have surprised me (Nemo’s War and Spirit Island are probably her top 2, and I thought they would both be long shots).

Dope treasure right there. Very nice.

Maybe you can try forbidden desert with her, the theme is less abstract than with forbidden island or pandemic. You get cought in sand, need water, or blocking the sun.

Made my first string! It’s great that the eight year old is taking an interest in tools in general.

The last few days I’ve been in complete awe of the technology I’m surrounded by.

Stuff I could only dream about as a kid. A lot of it is even beyond anything I could’ve imagined as a child!

Crazy, beautiful, amazing stuff!!

I have an Amazon Show 5 I got on sale a few months ago and it’s super neat! All I have to do is glance over at it to see what the temperature is outside. If I need more details I can ask and it’ll display and read out the upcoming temps for the rest of the day.
Or I can ask it for the latest news and it’ll give me a NPR news briefing. Or if there’s a word I don’t understand “Alexa, what does “taradiddle” mean?” and she displays and reads me the damn definition! lmao…how cool is that?
And the cool little thing does all sorts of things though! I often use it to listen to music…and it can stream just about anything you could ever imagine.
I even asked it to read me a bedtime story once.
It read me the ENTIRE “Velveteen Rabbit” from start to finish! Lmfao!!

I have these light bulbs I got SUPER cheap on clearance at Walmart (they were just $1 each!!) that connect to my internet so I can control them through my phone.
It never stops being awesome to flick them on and off wirelessly with my phone!! It’s so glorious being able to get all comfy in bed at night, then instead of having to get up to go turn my lights off…now all I have to do is reach over to my phone haha! Life got SO much easier!!

And I just recently purchased a new phone (iPhone SE…lol I’d been using an iPhone 5 for the last 7’ish years).
I legit don’t understand how things became so amazing! This SUUUUPER thin and light little thing is WAAAAAY beyond anything I could’ve possibly have dreamed about growing up! It’s way cooler then anything I’d have hoped for in the future!
Just so many things about it blow my freaking mind! For example…games. I remember having a flip phone and being really excited to download a Prince Of Persia game to it many years ago. The graphics were less then you’d get from a NES game in the late 1980’s! Now? Holy ■■■■! How is it possible that games look this freaking good on such a small device? I don’t get it!

…
I’m just in awe. It’s so cool to be surrounded by such amazing technology. I feel so spoiled! And I’ve got so much of it in my life!! My computer, phone, alarm clock, TVs (both of which are ‘smart’), my gaming devices…heck I even have a small tablet I pretty much only use for digital comic books! haha

What a dream! Seriously!!

You’re making my Alexa question herself Gnomes!

I told her…
“Alexa, you are creepy.”
She responded…
“Sorry, I want to improve but I’m not sure what I did wrong :(”

Had a little “me time” yesterday at the local lake. No bites though it was relaxing and a much needed time out after a mentally stressful past couple of weeks. Took advantage of fog for some fun photo ops

You do know all of that amazing stuff is spying on you and recording your every move and thought, don’t you? And “they” will use it to sell you all kinds of stuff you never dreamed you needed, like maybe purple yoyos…
