Yikes. I hope you don’t have it!
Reading comics, finally. … … … I had mentioned in another thread that I bought 20 used comics on Ebay back in December. The dealer shipped them from New Jersey December 14. I’m in Kentucky, not that far away. The comics went to California and then disappeared. I waited over a month and no sign of the comics on tracking. No movement at all. I finally asked for a refund and got it three days ago. The seller was very quick with the refund request and took the loss. Today the comics showed up in my mailbox. Over 5 weeks but finally here. I notified the seller and told them to send me a PayPal invoice and I would pay for them again. Yes, I could just keep them and not say anything, but I would not enjoy them.
Anyway, reading Jony Quest and reliving my childhood.
Continuing today - just been hanging out in my room. No symptoms but definitely stressed. Staying in room and wearing the mask as there are others in my house. Worried about everyone else here and worried about my friend.
Spent the past 2.5 hours on hold with unemployment as my funds have depleted and the fabled extension that recently passed has yet to kick in. Just more garbage to deal with today.
Now anxiously waiting for USPS to get here so I can unwind with my new Day Tripper. Need something positive to happen out of this crummy day.
I wish you get some positive news soon my friend, and you will.
Woke up at 6:30 this morning, delighted to see that my test results came back. I tested negative! Still taking things carefully though (keeping close eye on how I’m feeling, temp checks) as covid does like to be sneaky. Will probably test again in a few days just to be sure.
The first of the day… Many more will come.
Can we see a photo of these comics?
Good news!!!
Now waiting on my friend to shake this off. He’s been keeping in touch during his experience and seemingly in good spirits. We did some online gaming last night on our Switches…because, destressing is actually beneficial to one’s well-being.
She’s getting fat…OOOPS! I mean big!!
I like to call the snake a “Chonk”
He/She’s (Slink could be a male after all, we’ll see as the snake gets bigger) got a strong grip too, often takes the very tip of the tail and will wrap firmly around my finger to assure he/she does not fall off…kind of like having a harness for fall protection.
I’m slowly trying to get a friend into modern gaming…she’s pretty stubborn about it lol…she’s into old games like Rummikub, phase 10, fill or bust, farkle, skip bo etc. etc. To me a lot of her games play too much like each other and are boring.
I’m trying to be really slow with her cause I think she’ll be totally close minded to some of the games I’d love to jump into with her. We played a couple of games of Love Letter…but she wasn’t impressed. I think it’s because my version of the game is Batman themed haha, and that just instantly made her dislike it.
Tomorrow I’ll try Kingdomino with her…super easy to learn, really simple to play and can be rewarding if you get the tiles you’re looking for.
Then I talked her into trying a game called Villainous out because it centers around Disney. Actually looks really fun to me…and it’s a big step up in complexity to anything else we’ve tried…so if she ends up liking it, I think I’ll have a lot more success into getting her into more and more games.
Eventually I’m hoping she’ll get into Pandemic with me. I also have all sorts of other games like King Of Tokyo that would be fun, but I think would be an instant turn off for her based solely on the theme.
lol sorry…I keep calling her a “her”. It’s totally stuck in my head, even though I’ve seen you refer to him as a “him” in the past.
All good, I don’t even know for certain yet - my friend had seen him about a month ago and believed it could be a male based on some more pronounced body features - these little hooks on the snake’s tail area.
Yep, had 3 of them in the last 6 months prior to minor medical procedures.
“Just relax. This won’t hurt a bit”
Deep breaths were what helped me relax. I guess this can apply to dentistry too when the novocaine shot happens.
Kingdomino is a great gateway game. A beginner can understand when they do well, even if they don’t fully grasp the implications for end game scoring.
I just came home with Century: Spice Road, another reasonable early game. (I think Splendor might be better for entry.)
If you like Pandemic, I highly suggest Forbidden Island (same designer, also co-op). I play that with students and it gets good newbie reviews from them.
Edit: The Crew is a co-op trick taking game that is big now. It might appeal to someone familiar with the card games you list, but has enough newness to it that I enjoy it. It really requires three though. (There is a two-player variant included, but I haven’t tried it.)
