I wish you get some positive news soon my friend, and you will.
Woke up at 6:30 this morning, delighted to see that my test results came back. I tested negative! Still taking things carefully though (keeping close eye on how Iām feeling, temp checks) as covid does like to be sneaky. Will probably test again in a few days just to be sure.
The first of the day⦠Many more will come.
Can we see a photo of these comics?
Good news!!!
Now waiting on my friend to shake this off. Heās been keeping in touch during his experience and seemingly in good spirits. We did some online gaming last night on our Switchesā¦because, destressing is actually beneficial to oneās well-being.
Sheās getting fatā¦OOOPS! I mean big!!
I like to call the snake a āChonkā ![]()
He/Sheās (Slink could be a male after all, weāll see as the snake gets bigger) got a strong grip too, often takes the very tip of the tail and will wrap firmly around my finger to assure he/she does not fall offā¦kind of like having a harness for fall protection.
Iām slowly trying to get a friend into modern gamingā¦sheās pretty stubborn about it lolā¦sheās into old games like Rummikub, phase 10, fill or bust, farkle, skip bo etc. etc. To me a lot of her games play too much like each other and are boring.
Iām trying to be really slow with her cause I think sheāll be totally close minded to some of the games Iād love to jump into with her. We played a couple of games of Love Letterā¦but she wasnāt impressed. I think itās because my version of the game is Batman themed haha, and that just instantly made her dislike it.
Tomorrow Iāll try Kingdomino with herā¦super easy to learn, really simple to play and can be rewarding if you get the tiles youāre looking for.
Then I talked her into trying a game called Villainous out because it centers around Disney. Actually looks really fun to meā¦and itās a big step up in complexity to anything else weāve triedā¦so if she ends up liking it, I think Iāll have a lot more success into getting her into more and more games.
Eventually Iām hoping sheāll get into Pandemic with me. I also have all sorts of other games like King Of Tokyo that would be fun, but I think would be an instant turn off for her based solely on the theme.
lol sorryā¦I keep calling her a āherā. Itās totally stuck in my head, even though Iāve seen you refer to him as a āhimā in the past.
All good, I donāt even know for certain yet - my friend had seen him about a month ago and believed it could be a male based on some more pronounced body features - these little hooks on the snakeās tail area.
Yep, had 3 of them in the last 6 months prior to minor medical procedures.
āJust relax. This wonāt hurt a bitā ![]()
Deep breaths were what helped me relax. I guess this can apply to dentistry too when the novocaine shot happens.
Kingdomino is a great gateway game. A beginner can understand when they do well, even if they donāt fully grasp the implications for end game scoring.
I just came home with Century: Spice Road, another reasonable early game. (I think Splendor might be better for entry.)
If you like Pandemic, I highly suggest Forbidden Island (same designer, also co-op). I play that with students and it gets good newbie reviews from them.
Edit: The Crew is a co-op trick taking game that is big now. It might appeal to someone familiar with the card games you list, but has enough newness to it that I enjoy it. It really requires three though. (There is a two-player variant included, but I havenāt tried it.)
Give KnifeTank a try!!! My wife and daughters loved it!
Yeah man, I love Forbidden Island! Itās one of my favorites! I use to play it a lot with my mom and as a solo game.
My copy got lost (along with a ton of other board games) when my dad moved (he threw SO much stuff away without even asking if I might want to take any of it).
I told my friend about the game, but she didnāt seem all that excited about itā¦so Iām not sure if Iāll be picking the game back up or not.
Splendor is on my very short list of next pick ups!
Pandemic is an awesome game! And with some house rules you can easy adjust the difficult of it.
