What are you doing today?

This guy went out and bought a snowmobile… :speak_no_evil:

I stand corrected, going snowmobile shopping with that guy may be the most important thing anyone could do today.

Spent the evening playing Oddworld New 'n Tasty. Fun game, loved playing the original Oddworld games back then. Also played the Angry Video Game Nerd game, cleared all the stages on the first one, now on the holy grail of hard levels - the one themed to LJN  (I have this set to easy because this game is absolutely tough)

Helping Santa and his elves do a bit of Christmas shopping.

Each year I’d help Santa with my parent’s stockings. My grandma had made our entire family some really big hand knitted stockings that would stretch and you could fit a TON of goodies inside.
I had a blast doing up their stockings! And boy they sure would be stuffed! Almost always so much so that they’d spill over haha!
And every little thing would not only be wrapped, but would have some sort of meaning behind it. I never put in a bunch of ‘filler’ items.
My favorite year was this one year when I’d go way too overboard on my mom so I had to get a giant stocking…so big that you could legit fit a child inside of it!..and even that was over stuffed! I also got her a big huge Melissa & Doug stuffed Tiger to sit and guard the stocking lol. She ended up LOVING that tiger so much!

My mom has since passed…and me and my dad don’t keep in contact anymore…but man I loved making stockings! It was a highlight of the years for me…they always turned out so special and brought me so much joy to do!

This year I’ve decided to spoil a neighbor. She’s been really to only real friend I have in the 3d world (which is my own fault) since my mom’s passed…and dang she’'s done a lot for me these past few years for me.
That and she’s been through a LOT of hard times in her life…but wow she’s made some huge progress over the past couple of years. She’s grown so much stronger.
She lost her own mother this past year.

She wont expect it. It’ll be a complete surprise to her…and it’s something she could surely use this year. A little bit of magic on Christmas morning. I’ll put her stocking at her door while she sleeps.

She’s a big fan of hedgehogs lol…she adores the little prickly things.
I’m going overboard!
A hedgehog themed journal, bookmark (she’s a heavy reader) and even a 3d pop up greeting card!
A hedgehog statue to place in her garden, a little crystal hedgehog figurine, a stuffed animal hedgehog, a hedgehog adult coloring book, snowglobe and 3 hedgehog themed kid’s books (haha she’ll get such a kick out of them!). Oh and a big hedgehog blanket to place the stocking on top of to keep her warm!
All wrapped in some hedgehog theme wrapping paper and stuffed in a hedgehog printed stocking!

lmao I’m so excited! She’s the kind of person who’s very humble and extremely appreciative! This will likely bring her to tears! :')

Now I haven’t pulled the trigger to purchase everything just yet. Times have been tight, but I do think I can make this happen if I buy half this month and the rest next…but I so want this to happen so I may even entertain the thought of selling off a yoyo or 2 from my collection just to make sure this dream of hers becomes true.

Had a nice little distraction arrive today from Sandusky, OH

Decided that rather than endlessly stare at the pending election results/see the endless political divide on social media, I’d go ahead and get one of these built. Was very relaxing and pretty detailed model to assemble.

Took our Funhouse pinball soundboard in to get repaired (my soldering skills are not the greatest so leaving it to the expert). Blew a few capacitors…

Meanwhile at home I successfully troubleshooted our Taxi machine that was not displaying anything nor was it retaining any of the settings (like Free Play)… Got it up and running. Played for a few hours this evening with the family with some friendly competition

Yes, the pinball machine doubles as a very expensive cat toy

Rain today and yesterday. It’s getting darker earlier and earlier and by 5:30pm all I want to do is get under the covers with a book, read for an hour and then go to sleep. I got out of bed a half hour ago and I already feel ready to go back to sleep.

Got another pinball back up and running and learned a valuable lesson - change batteries frequently as they tend to leak. Thankfully, the leakage was localized to the battery holder, fixed by a quick cleaning/neutralizing.

Meanwhile, my cat had other plans when I turned on the machine, would not let me play

Did you think about replacing the batteries with Supercaps? I did that to my machine and it lasts minimum of 3 months without turning it on. No risk of leakage anymore.

Had heard good things about lithium batteries too. Currently looking into the remote battery case to get the batteries off the board.

Hahaha, I love pinball, can’t imagine having one at home…
That’s a beautiful and well treated cat by the way!

Thanks! Yes, she is a very spoiled kitty (I think she knows her beauty too). She does not look or act it but she is 12 years old (young?). When she’s not chasing pinballs, she’s curled up on my lap or eyes locked onto my yoyo string when I wind it.
