What are you doing today?

That’s awesome! Go for it! Give the guy a quicky lesson. You can do it!

I can already imagine how it’s going to go!

I’ll be all like “Okay, hold it in your hand, then toss it down like this…OH &(^#! let me untangle this knot real quick!
…okay, okay, now toss it down like this… DING!!…except don’t smack it into the ground like that! >.<'…”

It’s going to go great!

haha

I wish I were more like you @AKYOYOMIKE. I admire the way you feel comfortable enough with yourself to throw in public so much!

I’m the same way. The few times I’ve tried to play in front of students it has not gone well.

Don’t sell yourself short or underestimate this guy. When my 23 year old neighbor asked to see some of my yoyos he was binding, front mounting, and split bottom mounting kinda decently in 30 minutes. He had ZERO yoyo experience.

I think if we’re nervous about showing people some stuff we should just keep it simple and not go for quadruple GTs or whatever. Chances are after 10 seconds they will lose interest anyway.

Another thing about throwing in front of the ‘masses’ is that most of them only know yoyos from their childhood where things were pretty simple. 99% of people aren’t aware how advanced things have come with the hobby.
So they’re easy to impress.

One of the only times I threw in front of people was for my aunt an uncle a year ago. My uncles eyes bulged out haha and he was shocked and had to ask me how the heck the yoyo kept sleeping! He had no idea! :stuck_out_tongue:

Imagine if you brought Ed with you… I still say he uses magic…

haha it’s probably best Ed wasn’t there to be honest.
My uncle would’ve had a heart attack!

That’s so dope, looks like some awesome stuff! Im also digging the mohawk. I bet the show was top notch.

As for the yoyoing in front of people discussion, I brought a yoyo into work today to show my co-workers some of my tricks (I treat working saturday nights as a sort of ‘casually do your job’ day). I threw a few of my basic tricks and didn’t do half as bad as I thought. I was able to land my go to Kwyjibo combo with as much style as could be had without any warmup and clammy hands because I work with nitrile exam gloves (Im a medical technologist and do full scale production runs of the Covid anti-body test on weekends and release the results). The string just doesn’t slide right on hands that spent 6 hours in nitrile. Then my co-worker asked me about the hardest trick ive learned, and had to say Spirit Bomb.

Spirit Bomb is still the bane of my yoyo existence. I love the trick, but can’t for the life of me land the second drop aside from getting lucky. So I tried to show them the trick, and failed like 5 or 6 times, but they were still amazed at my skill of maneuvering a yoyo. I would have rather showed them other combos (or broke out my sharper atm 0A skills), but it was good enough for a quick on the clock demonstration of modern yoyos. I had my trusty raw Ti-Vayder with some blood red strings with me last night.

Heh, thanks. I had a CLWY logo shirt on the other day when my co-worker said it was cool. I told him that it was a yoyo brand and that I throw, and said I would bring one in and show him what a modern unresponsive was like. I figured that our weekend completely devoid of anything management was a good day, so I brought it in and went for it. I figured that im already good enough at this (2 years basically daily throwing) that even a garbage performance would be good enough. Muscle memory instincts helped me flow rather decently through my well practiced combo. I figured I would bungle it like that ‘bad warmup day’, and stumbled on my first throw, but after that I was throwing good enough. I usually yoyo alone, or already tipsy drunk at parties. First time in front of a sober audience felt like a bit of pressure that I never had. It really makes me think about what top yoyoers do in their spare time just practicing.

I have learned many tricks, but this one just intimidates me way too much. I need to throw in a couple more dedicated sessions to learning the second hop. I can pretty much get up to that point in my sleep, but afterwards dropping the yoyo between the triangle is just too hard. I choke like every time.

Met up with my 2 friends for our game day and went for a walk on a local trail this morning. Games consisted of Exploding Kittens, Catan, Monopoly Deal, Uno Flip, and Phase 10. Fun and much needed relaxing day. Now that I’m home, the wind storm approaches…the last thing California needs right now as it’s a very dry wind.

Today - mentally preparing myself for tomorrow. Did meet up with a couple close friends for dinner (outdoor dining) so we can all chat/vent our concerns and talk our nonsense, plan our next board game day

Tomorrow - will be anxiously waiting for some very important distractions to arrive…they could have been here today but FedEx likes to hold things until their actual due date of being delivered. Mini Panzer and Chopsticks Gorilla should treat me well
