What are you doing today?

That makes sense. I never tried to make my own hot sauce before about a week ago, but I 100% know it tastes better to me than it will others because the I grew the chief ingredient and made it myself, even if it’s a tweaked version of a recipe I found online.

All 3 of my plants are very different - peppers are different shapes, sizes, spiciness, etc. My first year growing them (and tomatoes), so it’s been a trip. I have a bunch of peppers that I let redden on the vine of my hottest plant that I am going to use for an entirely different sauce once I have a few more ready. I think I may try to offset the pure heat a little with some homegrown sweet yellow cherry tomatoes and some brown sugar.

Sounds good in theory, but it could be trash. I’m a total n00b.

If you remove the seeds/pith from the peppers and just use the flesh you’ll get a much milder sauce. That’s where most of the capsaicin is. I usually leave half the peppers whole and half with all the seeds removed to get a good balance of heat.

Yeah, I haven’t bothered with removing seeds yet. Will likely end up doing that with the hotter plant.

Decided to whip up batch #3 today. Used jalapenos reddened on the plant (de-seeded) and some sweet yellow cherry tomatoes (also homegrown). Might not look amazing, but the flavor is great - sweet heat.

Got the joy of waking up at 5:20AM this morning to watching a very rare thunderstorm over the Bay Area (we rarely get exciting weather here)…after several minutes of entertainment, I realized there were some items left outside that needed to be pulled inside from the rain and was out in it quickly moving things in. I remained awake the rest of the morning watching the room light up and listen to the thunder rumble and rattle the windows. Fun times…

did the thunder scare Slinkydoodles? Or did he even care?

No care in the world, probably slept through it.

Love me a good thunderstorm. Really miss the ones I used to watch when I lived in Nebraska. Those wide-open skies allow for some tremendous views.

The last real thunderstorm I experienced was last summer - had taken a trip and visited Six Flags St Louis for a few days. One of our days was cut short when a thunderstorm had rolled in for the evening. The views from my hotel were quite spectacular and didn’t know which way to look. We had just finished doing the water park that morning/afternoon, grabbed lunch, then went on one of their “dark rides”…it was sunny when I got in line, when I got off, the weather was drastically different.

As for CA, it was 2017 when we had a nice t-storm take up most of the evening…made for an entertaining drive home (I so wish I had my dashcam at the time)

Love a good thunderstorm. We get enough of them here in Wisconsin. Lightning, thunder, sheets of rain on the streets. Good times. I just wish my dog didn’t hate them (specifically the thunder) so much.

Yup, b/c of the heat wave here I’ve been leaving my patio door open and setting an alarm a little before sunrise to get up and close it and the blinds, so I got to enjoy a bit of the very loud thunder while going back to sleep.

Any one else experiencing 100+ whether? It is so hot where I live today that after only about 15 minutes of yoyoing in my room I am drenched with sweat! Yucky!!!

I’m not at 100 but the humidity is so bad it might as well be.

Hey guys. So today is going to be my last day at home because tomorrow I am taking the 7 hour drive down to my college and will not be back until Christmas time. I am very exited!!! My school is in San Diego so I am looking forward to throwing some tricks by the beach!

105 after sunset sounds brutal. It’s supposed to be 87 here tomorrow (during the day) and I’m already dreading it haha.

Finally a cooler day today…but now California is on fire after the weekend’s thunderstorm. Been pretty much staying home and inside these past few days (and forgoing my skate sessions) due to record poor air quality. I did finally take my new skates out today to try them out (3-wheel 110mm size) and while they take getting used to, they were a pure joy…a little scary at first however.

Other than that, not a whole lot else…relubed my Reactor yoyo and worked on some kickflips and watched some rollerblade technique videos as I get sucked into this hobby.

Yeah I saw the photo you posted…those wheels look huge. I haven’t shopped for skates since the '90s so I had to see what current-day skates look like. While there are still some 4-wheelers I was surprised those are considered recreational now and I didn’t see any 5-wheelers like speed skates used to be. I bet with your 3 bigger wheels one push and you’ll roll forever.

Yeah it is so smoky around here. The fires must be really bad! Yesterday evening the sun was just a big red dot.

Yea, tri-skates are kind of the thing now but are polarizing…people either love them or they hate them. So far I was pretty impressed, it kind of reminded me of being on ice with a pair of hockey skates (I don’t play hockey but have always rented hockey skates during the times I’ve tried ice skating). The glide feels like it can go on, road bumps are mellowed out but they can turn on a dime so probably not ideal for somebody’s first skates.
