Fun fact In France they call it pain perdu “lost bread” because it was the main use for stale bread  :+1:

Howdy everyone! I’m gonna be doing some work today and working on a 3 year old combo I started making for my partner when I first started dating her and never finished…

Also, let me just say, I’m so happy this forum is still a thing, I learn so so so much here many years ago. It’s amazing this community is still here and still thriving <3

Welcome back! 7 years is a looong time to be gone. You should post a video of your combo if possible. we would love to see it!

Wow, was it actually 7 years? Yikes, feels like my buddy and I were still trying to make yoyos like yesterday. I was one of the Rebel Yo-Yos guys, needed a break after issues with our last production run forced us to shut down. Happy to be back <3

Will do if I can actually get it done, there’s a slack element in the middle that has the yoyo and slack rotating on different axis that is giving me some trouble

It’s been a while since we’ve seen ThePants — their last post was 7 years ago. In your “LF RSO” post  thoughts on returning to the manufacturing side of yoyoing? The slack element sounds like it’s out of my league :flushed: Im sure you can do it. Good luck :+1: :yo-yo:

I’ve been thinking about making a yoyo again, but with the market where it currently is it would be a lot of work to create a product that is truly unique. I have some ideas but I was only ever a good product manager since I don’t CAD or machine and while I can anodize, I haven’t been near an ano setup in many years.

There is some open design space for making yoyos geared for performers instead of competitors but I’m not sure there is actually a market for that type of yoyo

I did some of those, most were done by Aman Sircus who is a lovely human and amazing artist and body piercer out in Colorado. Aman figured out all the ano tricks for us, I just helped actually get yoyos done. All credit for the artistry goes completely to him <3

Well I went tubing on a boat for the first time in 9 years. I have not been camping since I was 5. The first night at camp I bearly slept 4 hours. :joy: I ate a lot of s’mores and met some amazing people!!!

Did you sleep in tents? Or was it in cabins?

Been without cellphone coverage for a couple of years now. Just didn’t use it enough to justify the large monthly payment. Plus I’ve been able to use an old cellphone for very cheap while I was connected to wifi, so that’s worked well for me. But it did mean I was pretty much only able to use it at home or in stores that offered free wifi.

Except my cellphone is very old (iphone 5) and the screen started to peel from the body. I had to keep taping it so it wouldn’t peel competely off but a bunch of dirt got under the screen and it was just bad.

Been lucky that I have a cool neighbor who’s been letting me use their phone for the last month whenever I’ve needed it.
But I miss having a phone of my own and an upcoming job will require me to have a phone on me.

So I splurged tonight and just ordered myself a new iPhone SE and a really cheap cellular plan. Just $10 a month gets me 1gb of LTE data (I almost never use my phone and when I do it’s mainly with wifi) and 1000 minutes of voice +1000 txts. I had no idea there was such cheap plans out there!
Last time I had coverage I was paying almost $80 a month (though that was with unlimited everything)

Just don’t sleep with your phone on your bed side table and try to only use speaker phone!
