White Rabbit was my intro to the Airplane. Still listen to it frequently. I have the album. Love it. First heard it on the radio in San Francisco waiting to ship out on my “senior trip**”.
(** Bellamy Brothers - Old Hippie)
That’s great!I’m blessed with my dad’s record collection and that’s how how I got on. Just happened to be flipping through radio stations in the jeep and it was on.
Edit: having just listened to the track, did you get shipped out?
I’ve listened to this a couple of times now. At 36 there is a lot that I can relate to in those lyrics.
Yes, after about 3 days. [rant] [OT] Coming back took longer. Some warrant officer was messing with me for reasons unknown and delayed my orders for a week. Got a MAC flite on an aging air force transport that had to stop in Hawaii for 3 days for repairs. Couldn’t leave the base because “we could be ready to go” at any time. Another 3 days in SF for a physical for some stupid medical issue that didn’t keep me from going in the first place. [/rant]
Indeed.
One of my top albums over the last couple years. Over the hundreds of times I have listened to it, it never gets old.
The rumbling bass of a car’s stereo that’s been parked outside my apartment for the last half hour
That happens once in awhile in my apartment complex. So annoying. I have a 1 mile drive home from work. On the way home I CRANK up loud and hard old hardcore punk but I immediately turn it waaaaay down as soon as soon as I enter my apartment complex. I don’t wanna be THAT guy. I play music for me, not everyone in earshot of my car.
Then why do you think the people on your way home need to hear it, they are within earshot of your car as you drive by. I find it very annoying when drive by boomers come down the street.
It’s a country road with no houses. No people. Lots of squirells and deer and night.
I’ve been stuck on early Police, Operation Ivy, and Fugazi lately.
Snavs & fabian Mazur, Murda
legit an amazing song
I’ve been a fan of most Dischord Records stuff but I could never get into Fugazi even though I have all the records that the individual members have worked on (Minor Threat, Embrace, Faith, Rites of Spring, One Last Wish, etc.). Operation Ivy - when their first record came out in I think late 1988 - that was awesome. It was different for the punk scene and was 10 years before the big ska-core trend which thankfully did not last long.
