bc you’re a machinist…and you save weird metal shavings as it is…
Hey! How did you know I saved long drill chips for Christmas ornaments!
That bag contains hours and hours of hard work
OT, but I used to save the little brass things at the end of guitar strings in a Grolsh bottle. I started saving them in the 80s and figured I’d fill the bottle at some point, but haven’t added any for probably 30 years. Barely have time to play guitar, let alone change the strings. For some reason I still have the bottle though.
My weird one is keeping all my best most expensive throws with me at all times , I have 2 cases =16 that I never leave the house without , I’ve recently tried telling myself to just leave em at home because I never end up throwing em at work , but just can’t leave without em I have NO idea why maybe because I might run into the ONE other guy in my city that throws and will be able to show em the best of of my collection OR maybe because I love em so much and might just decide to throw em wherever I end up in a day (after work)
Another one I stopped when my collection got a bit bigger was OBSESSIVELY cleaning the bearings after every use I’m SO happy I stopped that one because it was tedious as hell and is definitely NOT needed lol
One more is saving ALL the yoyo related stickers I have thinking I don’t wanna regret putting em on something that I won’t like or not get to see as often as I want which is happening anyways seeing as they just sit in a pouch in my yoyo case

[/quote] so reliable
I stopped putting yoyo stickers on my cases a while ago. I have them all in a ziploc bag I keep in my yoyo tool box along with complete set of 2017 YYE trading cards, accessories, etc. My One Drop sticker is a treasure since you can only get those by buying from the OD store. I look at all my stickers sometimes and some are awesome but then I think - what am I gonna do with all these? Maybe when I’m really old I’ll give them to some yoyo kid.
Maybe this is more common than i think but up until about a week ago id never cut and adjust my strings id just tie a loop at the end without thinking about it. kept length consistent but ive been trying to experiment with a shorter string recently so i stopped doing it Lol
I saved nearly every used string and string scrap from cutting to length for about 10 years. Made a string ball with it.
Sometimes when I know no one is looking and the blinds are shut and the curtains are closed and the doors are locked I throw…right handed
Happy cake day!
I found that tying an extra knot at the end of the string is not necessary at all. My cut strings are always just the loop only, there’s no “tail” after the loop and the loop has never come undone. Once I tie the loop I pull the two strings apart pretty hard, and then just cut it at the knot. I just hate the feeling of the extra string on my finger, it’s quite itchy, especially when it’s frayed. But this habit isn’t all that weird to me, it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
I also do this and never considered it to be weird. I just feel like one day it could be useful if I ever decide to re-shield all of my bearings.
My really weird yoyo habit is that I always buy a duplicate of the yoyo that I’m interested in, even if I don’t know whether I like it or not. It leaves me with a lot of duplicate yoyos. This means that I always spend double the amount of money to try a yoyo that looks interesting which means I have less money to spend trying out other yoyos. It’s all due to me being unable to play with a yoyo when I have only one of them, the only exception being easily obtainable and cheap yoyos. I’ll play a yoyo for a bit, and then it’ll ultimately end up in storage even if I like it because I can’t bear to damage it, where it will stay forever, or at least until I remember that I like that yoyo and need to get another one of it. And I’ll put that off for newer yoyo releases that look interesting to me so that yoyo basically stays in storage permanently. Not great, I need to seriously kick this habit so I can try more yoyos for the same amount of money I’m spending and only get duplicates for the yoyos I really like, but it becomes difficult if the yoyo sells out instantly on drop day and I don’t have a duplicate of it.
I do tooo😂
Doing a front style throw instead of a break away for tricks that work best with a break away
You and @Mazdarx7FD do the same thing! I think @Mazdarx7FD only ever does front style throws as well, so all his side style tricks are from a front style throw.
I am weirdly obsessed with the BST Everytime I get deeply back into yoyoing.
I get a set collection in my mind envisioned, and I meticulously go to work to start acquiring them.
Many times if I come across a trade scenario and I don’t want the other yoyo ànd it’s a highly coveted yoyo, I will get it anyway as I play the long con to get my collection where it needs to be.
I always stare down my collection and if I haven’t been picking the yoyo up (even if I initially envisioned it needed to be in my collection in the beginning), it goes on the chopping block.
Sometimes after a yoyo sits on the BST and no one has my trade wants, I’ll sell it. Then I’ll use said funds to find those rare gems on the BST that get snatched up in seconds by everyone else, you have to be quick. And sometimes said yoyo is one I’ve had.no interest in, and I found out I should have, because it’s amazing.
I’m good at what I do, I have turned 4 yoyos that I could care less about (accept for an End 2) into 14 yoyos that I play every single day. They are all so good that I have a hard time deciding which to grab because I like all of them so much.
The hardest thing is wanting to get a top want of mine, and finding out it will take a favorite that I already have to get it. It’s just part of the game though.
Some might ask, why not just buy them. I could, and every once in a while I’ll dip into my own funds to do so (Doc Pop Bolt), but it feels nice knowing that the only money I’ve invested is in shipping costs. I can also say that through hundreds of trades over the years I have tried more yoyos than most and have genuinely defined my personal taste in yoyos.
My biggest fear right now (not actually a fear but it’s the first term that came to mind) is that I see someone list a Peak and they say they are looking for a mint OG 5 star. Because I want a Peak again more than you’ll ever know, and I’ll have to pass on it, because my 5 star is everything to me.
Shameless plug if you made it this far, if you have a b grade Torrent 2 (even if it has some marks on it), hit me up. I have a mint Heavensent Creep in a rare colorway for you with the box for it. Our can quickly sell it and buy the torrent 2 off off you.
I prefer flat bearings.
We aren’t the weird ones, they are.
You just have to have one catastrophic failure to decide it’s worth the tiny bit of extra effort.
Maybe we should set up a yoyo “math trade” every once in a while.
i throw 1a yoyo like an 4a yoyo
