Vs. Newton Charity Issues

Ok, lets get this straight. I’ve never even tried a Vs. Newton. How could I be attached to the brand? I just want them back as a reputable company because it would mean Heath would have accepted that what he did before was wrong, and that he has bettered himself as a person.

Imagine if you will this was not a yoyo company but a restaurant. They were serving what they called beef and in fact was not… Would you trust that if they closed for a month and reopened with the same staff, a hamburger would be a good idea. Trying to put perspective for the inexperienced.

Whoever disagrees with this is an idiot. Thank you Mr. Brown for telling it like it is.

you know ive had my problems on this forum. but ive never done anything CLOSE to this terrible. Vs.Newton was such a great company and had a great team. Heath screwed that up and now its dead.Wow Heath and to believe i actually respected you for awhile. Messed up…

Steve, you and I have had our disagreements in the past but on this we are in total agreement.

I don’t see why we need VsNYYC in the game. The yoyos were good but are they so good as to blindly overlook what has happened? Theft is still theft even if the culprit gives back.

Calling people idiots is not a great way to get people to side with you…

Not a great analogy because the yoyo’s weren’t bad, it was the charity money.

I’ve avoided posting on this thread for a while. I personally believe now is the time to stop. Lock this thread, move it, or delete it. No point in flogging a dead horse. Heath messed up. He tried to fix the mess he’d created. That’s it. Over. End of discussion. Whether he wants to continue to make yoyos is his choice. If you don’t like that, then don’t buy his products. End of story.

The problem with this statement is that, as we’ve all discovered, it was never a reputable company to begin with. Heath has been lying and scamming since the very start, when he was trying to sell his yo-yos through the BST on YoYoNation after myself and several other mods repeatedly told him not to.

Heath has never run a reputable business, ever. But plenty of other people have, and I would much prefer to see those companies rewarded for their efforts.

Misrepresentation.

I never said they were a reputable company. I just said I wanted Heath to realize what he did is wrong and that he could prove this by becoming one. Whatever, I’m through with this thread. Believe what you want, I’m leaving this thread for good.

I’ve refrained from posting thus far, but I guess it’s time.

Heath has supported me from the beginning. When I wanted to design a yoyo and get a company off the ground, he really reached out to me. We had a pretty long conversation on the the phone, about not just yoyos, but lots of things. My point- Heath is a good guy, and a friend. No matter where this goes, Heath will be my friend.

That said, what he did was not OK. the amount, the fact that this is the yoyo community, or the details do not matter. The point it, Heath was hiding something. Whether his intentions were to donate the money of not to the ACS, he made a mistake. We’ve established that- so can we just move on?

Two months ago, my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The treatment process, the personal sacrifices I’ve made, and the sheer thought of what lies ahead have definitely been the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced in my life. Nothing about cancer is easy. Things like school, sports, and yoyoing have been a great escape for me when I feel low.

The worst part about the Heath scenario is the personal aspect of it. Would 4k donated to the biggest cancer charity in the country have helped the direct treatment of my mom? Of course not. But, after going through this, I would never think of taking anything from somebody going through it. That is where I get upset- I don’t know if heath knows what it’s like to have a family member diagnosed with cancer- It keeps me up at night.

I forgive Heath, but I lost my respect for him. He will have to earn that back.

People, stop asking for a thread lock. The original thread HAS BEEN LOCKED. This is the thread that was put in place for people to rant and rave and argue. If you don’t want to read it any more, if you’re tired of it, if it stresses you out; STOP CLICKING IT. There’s no need to lock it just because you think the conversation is over. If people still have their opinions, let them express them.

The opinions people have have already been expressed on this thread. I don’t see anything new being brought to the table. I think it’s reached a point where we all need to move on. If you want to bicker, do it personally. There’s no need to fight an argument on the internet, which in reality has little significance over what Heath decides to do. I find it kind of ironic, though, that VsNYYC’s yoyos were held in high regard before this incident, but now they’re “crap yoyos”.

Let’s be fair, here. I’m the one who called them “crap yoyos” and I’ve always thought they were crap. Never liked a single one I threw, and when Heath put one in my hands at Worlds I made it really clear to him that I thought the play was sub-standard and then gave him suggestions on how to get them up to par.

I’ve never been a fan of Heath or his brand, and I’ve never claimed otherwise. No idea if others have become “fair weather fans” on this, but my position has been clear from the start. I didn’t like his shady behavior on the YYN forum and that, for me at least, set the tone of his entire “company”.

EDIT: To be fair, I also didn’t broadcast my opinion so it’s fair that one would assume I just “suddenly” hated his yoyos. Nice change of pace for me, keeping my mouth shut on something I don’t like, don’t you think? But my opinion of Heath started low and and has now hit the point where he’ll be removed from any event that I’m running.

I’ve had a Battosai in my arsenal before, and it was mediocre. I heard the first-run SkyWalkers vibed. I really think the appeal of Vs. Newton was in the colorways. If aesthetics and hyped collectability are your criteria for a great yoyo, Vs. Newton fits the bill–otherwise, I’d stick to SPYY, One Drop, YYF, YYJ, Werrd, 3YO3 or any other number of fine yoyo makers. Not like there’s a shortage of brands/models to choose from. The community is not really much poorer for missing Vs. Newton.

You could love a yoyo and the next could hate it. I have had first run skywalkers with slight vibes but also have had dead smooth ones. I would just recommend trying it some time before writing it off. Its nothing like the battosai. Probably the opposite in every way. As for crap? I dont think there crap at all but I also dont think that they are up to par with other high end brands as far as smoothness goes. I personal just feel the most comfortable and in control with a skywalker because I like the shape and speed but also its probably cause it have chose to throw them over most other throws. At this point I really dont care if he comes back. I got enough of his throws to last me tell the apocalypse  as for Steve Browns comment about him always being shady. I AGREE!!! Always with excuses and never doing what he says. I have had at least 4 times were he promised something and didn’t come threw. The mans word is worthless so honestly after thinking about it I dont wanna see him back in the business … period.

Has action been taken to put this dirt-bag in prison yet? There’s really, really solid evidence here that he defrauded two charities. Forgiveness shouldn’t be what we’re discussing here, it should be how to get him eating horse meat and sleeping with a toothless tweaker in the bunk above him for the next two years.

Woah man don’t take it too far. He paid the charity back. All of the money is there, and he threw in 500 dollars to another fund to try to make it up. He is also fixing the whole shipping issue. There is no need to throw him in prison, he has already been shunned from a big part of his life. He is not welcome in the community, nor will probably ever sell a yoyo. In my opinion, that is definantly punishment enough.

Professionals say one must hit rock bottom. I am not in a position and will not cast out my opinion on that end of the matter.
