Vivektoybania delivery issues

First, I don’t doubt @Vivektoybania 's good will. I don’t know of anyone having an issue with him that he failed to make right, even at his own personal expense. The Ting series, the Thing, etc., are all great yoyos that have enriched the scene.

You all may know that he plans to permanently close his store as a result of financial issues. I do not wish to create additional financial problems for him or any of his employees.

With that being said, I am not confident that Vivek is currently able to fulfill individual orders reliably.

I ordered a STOOPID (Blushhh) from Vivek’s store on June 7 of this year. The tracking on the store website isn’t working, so I reached out to him over discord about a month later to check in. At that time, he confirmed my order and indicated that it had shipped and that he would get back to me with more details the next day. After about a week without getting responses to my messages, I asked on the main discord channel if anyone had heard from him, with another customer reporting that Vivek had changed shipping companies and that orders would be going out in a week or two.

On July 24, I filed a case with Paypal, noting that I hadn’t gotten the yoyo or tracking information. On July 28, Vivek responded through Paypal, reporting that his phone motherboard was fried, that he therefore didn’t have access to tracking receipts, and that the package would be delivered within the next two weeks.

On August 11, PayPal informed me that I would have to escalate the issue to a claim or it would immediately resolve in Vivek’s favor. Since I felt like I didn’t have a choice, I made the escalation. On August 21, with no response to the escalation from Vivek, Paypal closed the case and sent me a full refund.

As I’ve been refunded, there’s nothing for Vivek to make right. He doesn’t owe me anything, and I wish him nothing but luck and success in the future. If the yoyo manages to show up in the mail three months after the order was placed, I’ll post an update to let everyone know about it and will reach out to Vivek immediately about re-sending the payment.

However, people on his store’s discord are encouraging buyers to save Vivek money on fees by dealing with him directly, rather than through the storefront, and yesterday @Thruwell posted some very attractive pictures of the Doc Pop collaboration STOOPID next to the OD Panorama. I’m worried that people might end up placing orders without being informed and protecting themselves.

The STOOPID is in stock at YoYoExpert and other retailers. Doc Pop editions of the STOOPID and Thing can still be had. If you can’t skip the discount, make sure you are protected as a buyer. It’s my hope that a retailer can give Vivek a fair price for his remaining stock so he can turn the page and get a strong start on the next chapter of his life.

I have a similar story I reached out to him
And he stopped communicating and I’m a week away from my case closing in. Refund with PayPal which is unfortunate as I really wanted to support Vivek but after 2 months of silence I gave up hope and figured I should cut my loses. I hope Vivek the best and am sad he left the community in this way but also am happy I have some form of buyers protection through PayPal.

Tough to hear but glad you posted as a cautionary note. Too often we see warnings months and months after the fact, by which point many others have suffered as well. Not saying that is the case here, but better to highlight the issue early. Thank you.

He did the exact same to me months ago. I had to call him out on FB BST to get him to give me my refund back. Also said he would hook up a throw for my troubles. Which he never did. At least I got my refund finally. He’s killed his own business…

I’d like to share my experience here as well. I don’t think Vivek is scamming, or malicious in any way. It’s obvious that he’s going through something, and I have confidence that when he gets back on his feet, then he will try to make things right.

With that said, I actually owe HIM money. I ordered 3 yoyos from him and they ended up getting lost, or so we thought. He sent 3 more yoyos to replace those, which was awesome, but eventually the other package showed up a couple weeks later. I sold 2 of the extras on the BST, and sent the funds to Vivek. I’ve had the 3rd yoyo for a while now, and when Vivek announced that he was selling everything, I told him that I would pay him for the 3rd yoyo if I couldn’t sell it. Some time passed, I forgot about it, but Vivek reached back out to me a couple of weeks ago and I told him I’d pay him when I got paid.

When that time came, I tried to send the funds to him on PayPal, but I received an error stating that I couldn’t send to his account, and I haven’t heard back from Vivek since.

So, for what it’s worth, for every negative story I’ve heard, I’ve heard several good stories regarding Vivek. Myself included. I just hope he’s ok and is able to get back on his feet.

TL;DR: He stopped communicating with me as well even though I owe him money.

Thanks, Aaron. I remember your BST post about the extra three yoyos that arrived, and I almost sent you a private message about it a week ago the first time I thought about starting a thread. I think we’re on the same page about this being a more of a case of Vivek dealing with more than he can manage rather than malicious scamming.

I’ve sometimes gone a few weeks telling students their papers will be graded “soon.” I always mean it when I say it, but then the rest of the week happens.

Yeah I think we are on the same page, and I appreciate your post. It’s very well said, so I wanted to share my experience too. Specifically, I wanted to share that I’ve also lost contact with Vivek, even though I owe him money. Hopefully he’s alright and is able to fix his situation.

Sadly he probably has had enough refunds on his PayPal on his site that pp has froze his account for review. I know he lost his job earlier this year and if his phone broke earlier I imagine it’s been tough going.

I’ll note i wish Vivek all the best and I’ve also had good experiences with him in the past but it’s still really unfortunate that things have gone this way.

Edit: I did get my refund so that’s nice . Sad I didn’t get my stoopid but that’s okay.
